IxNetwork-Protocols by Ixia is a protocol emulation and control-plane testing component for the IxNetwork platform. It enables realistic, high-scale emulation of Layer 2/Layer 3 and subscriber access protocols to validate routing, switching, and service behavior under a wide range of conditions. Working alongside IxNetwork’s traffic generation and analytics, it lets engineers model complex topologies, establish sessions, trigger convergence events, and analyze detailed protocol state and statistics in real time. Typical technologies supported include BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP, MPLS, Segment Routing, EVPN/VXLAN, LDP, RSVP-TE, DHCP, IGMP, PIM, and others. The solution integrates with automation frameworks through REST and Python APIs, making it well-suited for CI/CD pipelines, regression testing, benchmarking, and interoperability validation across routers, switches, data center fabrics, and service provider networks. Available for both hardware and virtual editions, IxNetwork-Protocols helps accelerate feature validation, performance testing, and troubleshooting from development through deployment.
