Environmental and Social Specialist

Mira Stephan serves as the Environmental and Social Specialist for the IPSD II Project, where she ensures full compliance with World Bank safeguard policies and advances environmental and social sustainability across all phases of project design and implementation. Her work focuses on embedding sustainable practices that maximize long-term impact and strengthen IPSD II’s alignment with global environmental and social standards.

With over 20 years of professional experience in environmental management, sustainability, and compliance, Mira brings deep expertise in integrating environmental safeguards into private-sector development programs. 

Before joining IPSD I & II, she served as an Environmental and Social Engineer under DAI’s flagship USAID-funded Compete Project, where she led environmental mitigation efforts, monitored infrastructure compliance, and managed external consultants supporting environmental assessments and due-diligence studies.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Water and Environmental Engineering, and is recognized for her strengths in strategic planning, research, and capacity building. Her role continues to ensure that IPSD II upholds the highest standards of environmental responsibility and social inclusion.
