Two Smart Ways to Explore Edmonton for Less This Spring

Edmonton does not shy away from a good deal—especially when it involves getting out of the house before patio season fully takes over. Two current promotions are making it easier (and cheaper) to explore some of the city’s most beloved spaces. One puts spending power in your pocket downtown. The other doubles your admission to two iconic attractions. Frugal? Yes. Boring? Not remotely.

For even more ways to plan your outings, keep an eye on the Attractions section.

Downtown Edmonton Gift Card Bonus

The Edmonton Downtown Business Association is currently offering a bonus incentive through its Downtown Gift Card program. Purchasers receive added value when buying gift cards that can be used at participating downtown retailers, restaurants, and services.

You can buy a $100 gift card for $75. Combine that with the dining deals coming up during the Edmonton Downtown Dining Week (March 11-22), and you’re earning some serious discounts.

Full details and current bonus amounts are available here.

The Downtown Gift Card functions at a wide range of businesses, making it a flexible way to explore local dining spots, boutiques, cafés, and entertainment venues. It is essentially a curated excuse to rediscover the city core—with a little extra spending power attached.

For anyone who claims they “never go downtown anymore,” this may be the most financially persuasive rebuttal available.

Alberta 2-for-1: Muttart Conservatory & Edmonton Valley Zoo

From February 14 to March 29, 2026, Alberta residents can take advantage of a 2-for-1 promotion at two of the city’s most recognizable attractions: the Muttart Conservatory and the Edmonton Valley Zoo.

Here is how it works: Purchase admission to either facility (online in advance or at the gate). Then, present that receipt along with valid Alberta identification to receive free admission to the other attraction. The second ticket is issued at the gate at the time of visit.

The pairing is unexpectedly perfect. One visit offers four climate-controlled pyramids filled with curated botanical displays. The other provides an outdoor walk through wildlife habitats along the river valley. In a single promotion, visitors can move from tropical humidity to Arctic air—and still call it a budget-conscious day out.

Hours and regular admission pricing can be found on each attraction’s official page.

A Season of Smart Exploring

Between bonus downtown spending and two-for-one attraction hopping, late winter and early spring just became significantly more interesting. These promotions reward curiosity—and perhaps a willingness to brave unpredictable shoulder-season weather.

For locals looking to rediscover familiar favourites (or visitors wanting to stretch their travel dollars), this is an unusually practical moment to explore Edmonton. Strategic, even.

Wayfinders: A Constellation of Women Artists
January 24, 2026 - May 31, 2026
12:00 am
Wayfinders brings together new and recent works by several mid-career women artists working in Edmonton. In their respective practices the artists in this exhibition locate themselves within their own realities and map out varying ways in which to navigate the world. This personal cartography grounds and locates each artist within diverse interwoven networks, material explorations and conceptual structures. Expansive notions of community, knowledge, family, ancestry, and storytelling coalesce to reveal intersecting yet independent points of view. The exhibition is organized into several intimate conversations between artists that explore themes of balance, family, health, location, navigation, and folklore. Each individual artwork serves as a point of orientation, coming together to form a shared map of contact, counterpoints, and complex constellations. These conversations blend into one another, representing the many concerns of women artists working in Edmonton today.

Nahanni McKay: Spirit
March 28, 2026 - May 2, 2027
12:00 am
Nahanni McKay’s photograph Spirit critiques the colonial foundations of Canada’s national park system and its ongoing impact on Indigenous lands and wildlife. A young Métis photographer from Banff, McKay works within a wildlife corridor, arranging the skulls of deer, cougars, and bears to honour their presence and the lives taken within these contested spaces. Through this evocative composition, she calls attention to how tourism and park policy have long overshadowed Indigenous relationships to land, while affirming the necessity of Indigenous knowledge in restoring balance, care, and respect for the beings who share these territories.
