FGC-9 bedroom factory discovered

Police in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre uncovered a manufacture and distribution operation and conducted raids yesterday afternoon (27). It looks like the future of gun control is looking rather choppy at this rate.

“The seven submachine guns seized late Friday afternoon (27) in a house in the Vila Diehl neighborhood, in Novo Hamburgo, were of similar quality to police weapons, according to delegate Ayrton Martins, from the Organized Crime Repression Division (Draco). “In addition to being accurate, the weapons also have quality control, so much so that the steel used is of good quality,” he mentioned. The house is located at the end of Arthur Momberger Street, almost on the border with Dois Irmãos. Another item that also caught attention was the printer used in the manufacturing, considered state-of-the-art. According to Draco, the gunsmith behind the manufacturing has technical knowledge and no criminal record. The weapons were sold with 32-round magazines, plus 10 test cartridges.”

The FGC-9 is Flooding the Brazilian Black Market

These are just a few from the last couple of weeks. I wonder how many have been produced worldwide at this point.

Homemade submachine guns used in Jerusalem attack

It appears that at least one locally homemade submachine gun was used to carry out an attack in Jerusalem today which left 6 people dead and 15 injured. The weapon shown in press photos is a commonly seen local take on a crude open-bolt submachine gun. ‘Carlo’ refers to the Swedish Carl Gustaf M45 (in reality more likely the Egyptian made the ‘Port Said’ copy).

Blocks of steel bar and a tubing are really all that is required to turn these out in any small workshop used for bike and automotive repairs. Magazines are usually either homemade or scavenged 9mm pistol / UZI SMG magazines. ‘Crackdowns’ on the manufacture of these have been announced in the past but haven’t appeared to have slowed the numbers being seized and used. Similar homemade SMGs were also used back in 2016 to carry out an attack on a restaurant in Tel Aviv resulting in four dead.

I’m surprised they haven’t began to 3D print components such as magazines or lower receiver bodies by now. Occasionally plastic airsoft AR grips and stocks have been added.

Not-A-Glock Seized Following Shoot-out with Police

The NAG .22 (‘Not A Glock’), a recently released almost fully 3D printed .22lr Glock 26 clone was seized after a shoot out with police in Calgary last Friday.

Printed guns such as these can be made in any country as only basic hardware store steel tubing and springs are required. They’re only going to get better.

More Hybrid 3D Printed Guns Seized in Brazil (AR9, SMGs)

Quite a number of these appear to be showing up in recent months. Above is a hybrid 3D-printed DIY AR9 which was seized March 10 2025. This particular model (designed by Professor Parabellum) uses a section of steel tubing running the length of the upper receiver.

Interestingly on the same day police busted a dedicated Magazine Farm operating out of an apartment in the city of São Leopoldo. That was all the group involved was apparently producing. It does makes sense for criminal operations to distribute manufacture of components across various locations.
