Water-cooled Chiller Implementation for Data Center Application
Introduction:
Our Customer, a major European data center facility, was facing escalating cooling demands. This challenge was primarily due to increased server density and higher computational workloads.
The existing cooling infrastructure was unable to cope with the heat load, leading to inefficiencies and a risk of overheating. The data center management sought an advanced cooling solution that could meet their current needs and accommodate future growth.
Challenges:
The Customer’s biggest challenge was managing the increasing heat load. At the same time, they needed to maintain consistent cooling performance and avoid any risk of downtime caused by overheating.
The inefficiency of the current cooling system seriously jeopardized the Customer’s operational cooling and infrastructure reliability.
Solution:
After consulting with Hitema® International Technical Engineering team, was provided with a customized solution consisting of three high-capacity water-cooled chiller units, each with a cooling capacity of 1,200 kW. Key features of these chillers included high-efficiency screw compressors ensuring optimal energy use and reduced operational costs, advanced heat exchangers for maximizing heat transfer efficiency, and a smart monitoring system providing real-time performance data and remote management solutions.
Results:
Hitema® International water-cooled system was seamlessly integrated in the Customer’s data center facility and it contributed to enhance cooling efficiency by 40% and to reduce energy consumption by 25% compared to the previous cooling solution. What’s more, the units’ robust design and advanced monitoring capabilities ensured consistent cooling performance and reduced the risk of downtime.
