High School Online

Higley Virtual Academy

Higley Virtual Academy is a comprehensive, fully online program for students in grades 9–12. This accredited, tuition-free option offers students a high-quality education without the need to attend a physical classroom. HVA utilizes the web-based learning system Canvas with all grades 9-12 and will use the Florida Virtual Curriculum. Our Canvas platform will look similar for all teachers and courses. Canvas setup makes it easy to find coursework and outline assignment due dates in a calendar.

HVA FINALS MUST BE COMPLETED IN-PERSON

Early and late finals are not permitted.

Final Exam sessions to be assigned according to HVA Release period(s).

A 60% or higher is required on a final to pass an HVA class, regardless of the calculated course grade.

Students may use hardcopy study guides and notes during the exam. Electronic files, emails, and workspaces (e.g., Google Drive, Microsoft 365, etc.) may not be accessed during testing.

Secure school testing devices will be provided. Do not bring personal or school issued laptops.

Personal devices, phones, smart watches, etc. will be collected and stored during testing.

Students may bring water and snacks. All other belongings should be left at home.

Enrollment

The cut off for making adjustments to your student's schedule is after the first 10 days of school. After the first 10 days of school, enrollment for the entirety of Semester 1 (July-December) is closed and you will have to wait until S2 (January-May) to enroll your student online/ adjust their online schedule.

Courses

Course offerings include literacy (reading, writing, and literature), mathematics, science, and social studies, all aligned to current Arizona State Standards. These carefully sequenced curricula are designed to ensure mastery of state standards, as measured by state assessments, and to prepare students for success in high school, college, or career pathways. FAQs

Can my student take both online and in-person classes? How many of each?

Students in high school (grades 9-12) students can choose to be full-time online or have a hybrid schedule. See below for the breakdown for hybrid schedule options.

Option 1	All 6 classes online (full-time online)
Option 2	5 classes online, 1 class in person at WFHS or HHS
Option 3	4 classes online, 2 classes in person at WFHS or HHS
Option 4	3 classes online, 3 classes in person at WFHS or HHS
Option 5	2 classes online, 4 classes in person at WFHS or HHS
Option 6	1 class online, 5 classes in person at WFHS or HHS

Are gifted and/or honors classes available?

Is there a fee for online classes?

Course fees only apply when a student takes more than six credited classes. The fee for additional coursework is $180.00 per course per semester. ($360.00 for a year-long course). There is no refund for course fees once it is paid, if a student drops the class.

To Access your students' course fees, follow the instructions below to make your InTouch account.

Log into https://az-higley.intouchreceipting.com/
First time users of InTouch must set your password to sync with ParentVue. Under the "1st Time Users" section, select "click here to set your password."
To identify your account, please input your email address or username that is associated with your ParentVue account.
After you input your email address or username, follow the prompts to set your password. It can be the same as your ParentVue account and does not change your ParentVue password. You will receive an email that is associated with your ParentVue account.
After you have set your password, you can login to InTouch Receipting using your ParentVue username and the password you just created.
When you log in to InTouch, your students will now show up. Here, you can select the items to pay for or you can add additional items by selecting the student's school tab. This is where you will find information and payment options for parking, club accounts and tax credit. Any sports participation will automatically be added to the student's account.
