About the HeberHack 2026 challenge ( THIS IS for Bishop Heber College Students Only)

HeberHack 2026 is an exciting 72-hour in-person hackathon organized by the Bishop Heber College Alumni Association to inspire creativity, innovation, and problem-solving among our students. This immersive event will take place January 8–10, 2026, at the Bishop Heber College campus.

The goal of HeberHack is to bring together talented students, alumni, faculty, and industry mentors to collaborate on real-world challenges that matter to our community, businesses, and society. Participants will brainstorm ideas, validate them through field research, design solutions, build working prototypes, and present them to a panel of industry experts.

This challenge is open to students from all departments and encourages multidisciplinary teamwork. Whether you are a coder, designer, business thinker, or domain expert, HeberHack provides the perfect platform to learn, innovate, and showcase your abilities.

Throughout the 72 hours, participants will receive hands-on mentoring, workshops, and guidance on areas like problem identification, research methods, presentation skills, and integrating a viable business model into their solution. Alumni experts from various industries will also join to support and sponsor the challenge.

HeberHack 2026 is more than a competition—it's a launchpad for ideas, leadership, and innovation. Join us in building impactful solutions and shaping the next generation of problem-solvers.

Requirements

What to Build

At HeberHack 2026, we encourage teams to create practical, impactful, and innovative tech solutions that address real-world challenges. Your project can take any form—as long as it aligns with our hackathon’s theme of technology-driven problem solving.

You Can Build: 1. Mobile Applications

Create intuitive, user-friendly apps that solve everyday problems—whether for students, communities, small businesses, or public services. Android, iOS, or cross-platform… it’s your choice.

2. Web Applications

Design interactive websites or full-featured web platforms that simplify tasks, improve workflows, or provide valuable services to users.

3. Software Tools & Dashboards

Build lightweight tools, automation scripts, analytics dashboards, or AI-powered utilities that can make processes smarter and faster.

4. AI/ML or Data-Driven Solutions

Use machine learning, data analytics, or AI agents to create intelligent solutions—from recommendations to predictions to automation.

5. Innovative Prototypes

Even if your idea isn’t fully developed, you can build a functional prototype that demonstrates the core features and user experience.

Focus on Real Impact

Your solution should address actual needs—local community challenges, campus-related issues, social problems, or industry gaps. We are looking for ideas that can be nurtured into real, scalable solutions even after the hackathon.

What to Submit

To complete your HeberHack 2026 project submission, each team must provide the following:

1. Project Description

A brief write-up that explains:

  • The problem you chose to solve

  • Your proposed solution

  • Why it matters and who benefits

  • Key features of your app or prototype

2. Working Demo (Video or Live Presentation)

A 2–4 minute demo video or a live walkthrough showcasing:

  • How your solution works

  • Core features and functionality

  • The user experience or workflow

  • Any innovative or technical aspects

3. Source Code or Prototype Files

Upload your project to a public repository (GitHub/GitLab) or provide files directly:

  • App code

  • Website code

  • ML models

  • Prototype UI files (Figma/Adobe XD), if applicable

The code does not need to be perfect—just functional and easy to understand.

4. Presentation Deck

A simple 5–8 slide presentation covering:

  • Problem statement

  • User research or insights

  • Solution overview

  • Tech stack

  • Demo screenshots

  • Future enhancements

5. Team Information

Include the following details:

  • Team name

  • Member names & roles

  • Department/year

  • Contact information

Submission Tip

The goal is clarity, not perfection. Judges want to understand your idea, see it working, and evaluate its creativity and impact.
