Hack Arizona Code of Conduct
Introduction
Hack Arizona aims to foster innovation, creativity, and collaboration in a welcoming and inclusive environment. To ensure a positive experience for everyone, all participants, mentors, judges, organizers, and sponsors must adhere to this Code of Conduct.
1. Respect and Inclusion
1.1. Treat everyone with respect and courtesy, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or background.
1.2. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of offensive behavior will not be tolerated. Examples include but are not limited to:
Verbal or written abuse, including offensive comments or jokes.
Intimidation or stalking.
Unwanted sexual attention or advances.
Inappropriate physical contact.
1.3. Be mindful of how your actions and words affect others. Seek to create a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
2. Collaboration and Integrity
2.1. Embrace teamwork by sharing ideas openly and encouraging constructive feedback.
2.2. Plagiarism or any form of cheating is prohibited. All submitted work must be original or properly credited if based on existing materials.
2.3. Respect intellectual property rights. Do not use or copy code, designs, or other materials without proper attribution.
2.4. Follow the hackathon’s rules regarding team formation, project submission, and use of resources.
3. Safe Environment
3.1. Alcohol and drug use are strictly prohibited during the hackathon.
3.2. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, especially when using hardware or other technical equipment.
3.3. Report any unsafe conditions, emergencies, or inappropriate behavior to the event organizers immediately.
4. Communication
4.1. Use appropriate channels to communicate with other participants and organizers.
4.2. Avoid spamming, trolling, or disruptive behavior in online or in-person discussions.
4.3. Constructive criticism is encouraged, but personal attacks are not acceptable.
5. Reporting Issues
5.1. If you witness or experience behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, report it promptly by filling out the attached Microsoft Form.
5.2. All reports will be treated confidentially and addressed promptly. Retaliation against reporters will not be tolerated.
6. Enforcement
6.1. Participants found in violation of this Code of Conduct may face consequences, including but not limited to:
Warning or reprimand.
Removal from the hackathon.
Disqualification of their team’s project.
6.2. Decisions made by the organizers regarding enforcement are final.
7. Acknowledgment
