Your team’s knowledge base
A Notion-style docs app, right inside WordPress

Hierarchical docs, infinitely nestable
Organize everything in a living tree. Drag docs under other docs, nest them as deep as you need, and reorder with a click — just like the Notion sidebar your team already knows.
- Parent / child documents with unlimited depth
- Drag-and-drop move & reorder in the tree
- Per-doc icons & cover images
A real block editor with slash commands
Press / anywhere to insert headings, lists, to-dos, quotes, code blocks, tables and more. Built on TipTap, it feels fast and modern — no Gutenberg learning curve for your writers.
- Slash menu: headings, lists, to-do, quote, code, divider, tables
- Link to other docs & insert topic mentions inline
- Autosave with live “Saving… / Saved” status

Classify by topic, find anything fast
Beyond the tree, tag documents with hierarchical topics so the same doc can live in many contexts. Switch to the Topics tab to browse your whole knowledge base by subject.
- Hierarchical topics (parent & subtopics)
- Tree / Topics tabs with instant filtering
- Search across every document
Export, print and share in a click
Your content stays yours. Export any document to clean Markdown, print or save it as a PDF, and copy a shareable link — all from the doc’s Actions menu. Access is gated by WordPress capabilities.
- Export as Markdown
- Print / Save as PDF
- Copy link & capability-based access control

AI-Ready
Built for the agentic web. Native to WordPress 7.
GrowthDoc speaks the language of AI assistants. Every document and topic operation is exposed as a typed, permission-aware ability through the WordPress Abilities API — so an MCP client can read, write and organize your knowledge base in plain English.
What your AI can do
| Category | Abilities | Sample |
|---|---|---|
| Documents | 9 | list, get-tree, create, update, append, move, reorder, delete |
| Topics | 2 | list-topics, create-topic |
- Ask in plain language. “Create a doc under Onboarding and append today’s standup notes” just works.
- Safe by design. Every ability declares readonly, idempotent or destructive intent.
- Your permissions still apply. Each call goes through WordPress capabilities.
- Tune it from wp-admin. Decide which abilities are exposed to MCP clients.
11 typed abilities across 2 categories, registered under the growthdoc/* namespace. Requires WordPress 7.0+.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is GrowthDoc free?
Yes. The core plugin gives you the full docs app — hierarchical documents, topics, the block editor and the Abilities API — at no cost and with no per-user fees.
Does it work with my theme?
Yes. GrowthDoc renders as a self-contained React app via the [growthdoc] shortcode, so it drops into any page on any modern theme (WordPress 6.0+).
How many users can access it?
As many as you like — there are no seat limits. Access is governed by WordPress roles and capabilities (read, edit and delete documents), so you decide who can do what.
Who owns my data?
You do — completely. Documents are stored as a custom post type in your own WordPress database. Nothing is sent to a third-party SaaS, and you can export any doc to Markdown at any time.
Can I use it with AI assistants?
Yes. GrowthDoc registers 11 typed abilities (documents and topics) through the WordPress Abilities API. Any MCP-compatible AI client can read and manage your docs, always subject to the same WordPress permissions.
Can I use it for client documentation?
Absolutely. Install it on any site you manage to give each client a private, branded knowledge base — with no recurring SaaS cost attached.
