U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Greece

The Fulbright Program is the premier international educational exchange program in the world. It was established in the United States in 1946 by Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. The Fulbright Foundation in Greece offers scholarships to Greek and American citizens – students, teachers, scholars, and artists – to pursue a wide variety of educational projects.

The U.S. Embassy Athens Public Diplomacy Section (PDS Athens) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Grants Program in fiscal year 2025. PDS Athens invites proposals for projects that strengthen ties between the United States and Greece through concrete demonstrations of cooperation between our two peoples, aiming at making America safer, stronger and more prosperous.

The Embassy Speakers Program offers the opportunity for educational institutions, NGOs, think-tanks, businesses, and other organizations to hear Embassy Officers speak in English about the U.S., and their own work as diplomats in Greece. Topics may include the Debt Crisis, Immigration/Refugee Crisis, Trade and Business, Life and Culture in the U.S., U.S. – Greece Relations, among others. Embassy Speakers can address any size group.

This funding opportunity is in support of Greece’s 2021 celebrations, as agreed upon during the 2019 Strategic Dialogue between the governments of the United States and Greece. Approved programs that wish to be implemented in coordination with the National Committee “Greece 2021,” come under its auspices and benefit from the use of its logo, will need to receive further approval by the Committee. Other relevant initiatives may also be considered. The funding opportunity pertains to programs highlighting the American contributions to the history of the Greek War of Independence, the bilateral collaboration through the last 200 years and the future exchanges between the two countries and peoples.

Since its inception in 2011, the U.S. Department of State has funded over 500 projects through the AlumniEngagement Innovation Fund, also known as AEIF. These projects, led by alumni of U.S. government exchange programs – ExchangeAlumni, have increased regional and global collaboration of alumni, supported U.S. foreign policy objectives, and benefited communities around the world.
