Duke University Athletics follows a consistent animal policy across all venues, including both Cameron Indoor Stadium and Card Gymnasium:
- Service Animals: Trained service animals are welcome at all Duke Athletics venues. A service animal is a dog individually trained to do work or perform tasks for individuals with disabilities. The animal must be under control at all times, leashed or tethered unless it interferes with the task it was trained to perform. Service animals must not show aggression, bark, growl, or disrupt the environment unless trained to do so for a specific task. Current rabies vaccination tags or proof of vaccination must be provided upon request. Any violation of these guidelines may result in the service animal being excluded from the facility.
- Service Animals in Training: In North Carolina, service animals in training have the same access rights as trained service animals. They must wear identifiable gear (collar, leash, harness, or cape) and have up-to-date rabies vaccination tags or proof. The trainer is liable for any damage caused by the animal. Animals must be housebroken and adhere to the same behavioral guidelines as trained service animals. Violations will result in the service animal in training being excluded from the facility.
- Emotional Support Animals: Emotional support, therapy, and companion dogs are not considered service animals as defined by the ADA and are not allowed inside any Duke Athletics venues.
- Personal Pets: Personal pets are not permitted inside any Duke Athletics venues, including Cameron Indoor Stadium and Card Gymnasium. The only exceptions are for service animals and service animals in training. Note that therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, and companion dogs are not considered service animals under ADA guidelines and are not permitted.
