Sooo I don't have much time to doink around in Photoshop lately, because lol senior thesis plus lol honors research = way too much time spent in the corner staring at the piles of reading on my desk and wondering if it's too late to go major in something else. I haven't been making many icons outside of manga_battle lately, and those I can't post until the competition ends. (Wonderful icontest, by the way, you should all go check it out. :Db)
However, ririkit signed up for an account on Niko Video, which is basically Japan's answer to YouTube, and we discovered that not only are there more goofy anime parodies than you can shake a stick at, but the quality is also a little nicer than YouTube. Which meant capping was in order. Which led to...well.
(I should probably also note here that the Black Cat icons are recolors. Because 1) I am a dork, 2) it was for RP purposes, and 3) I think Rinslet makes a much sexier blonde than a...what do you call someone with lilac hair, anyway?)

This is a pretty simple batch, because I think that quite simply, if you need to throw brushes and textures all over a picture of Abraham Lincoln punching mecha-Hitler to make it look good, you're doing it wrong.

So apparently renaming from aufleuchten to technological has had the awesome unexpected side effect of breaking all of my image links (since I've been using my LJ image space to upload icons).
Browsing this journal will be kind of lolarious until I fix this. I'll probably sit down in a minute here and start playing with find/replace, but whether I have the attention span to do it all now remains to be seen.

edit; Okay, it went faster than I thought. Let it never be said that I can't get things done when I bother.
I think the first pair of icons probably deserve some background information. Last week, while I was sitting in history class, my entire college campus went on lockdown. We had no idea what was going on, but people were getting text messages from friends in other buildings mentioning rumors of someone carrying a rifle.
As we later learned from the email updates that we couldn't read from class, it was an umbrella. (It was a very rainy day.)
The text on both of those icons is lifted verbatim from the email updates the university sent out. I'm not sure what this says about my sense of humor.
