FYI, I added skipBuildOutputAssignment as a workaround. Do you think it makes sense to keep it, or should we try to find a better fix later?

Probably there's a better way. I don't have all of the context of what problems this causes as you though. I know that @florian-lefebvre has hit this problem as well. Definitely open to revisiting how we do this kind of thing later.
