Closes #25656

Problem

The cron tool was unavailable to agents using tools.profile: coding, so /tools/invoke returned Tool not available: cron and the model never received the tool definition even when sandbox policy allowed it.

Root Cause

/tools/invoke correctly builds and filters the agent tool list, but the coding tool profile did not include cron. This made the tool appear missing/"unregistered" at runtime because profile filtering removed it before invocation.

Fix

  • Added cron to the coding tool profile allowlist (without widening access to gateway)
  • Added profile-level regression coverage for createOpenClawCodingTools
  • Added /tools/invoke integration tests to verify cron is available under coding and still hidden when explicitly denied

Testing

  • pnpm exec vitest run src/agents/pi-tools.create-openclaw-coding-tools.adds-claude-style-aliases-schemas-without-dropping.test.ts src/gateway/tools-invoke-http.test.ts

Greptile Summary

Added cron tool to the coding profile allowlist in tool-policy.ts:68, fixing issue where cron was unavailable to agents using the coding profile despite being allowed by sandbox policy. The fix includes cron individually without widening access to gateway (the other tool in group:automation).

  • Modified coding profile to explicitly allow cron alongside existing tools
  • Added profile-level unit test verifying cron inclusion while gateway remains excluded
  • Added integration tests confirming cron availability under coding profile and proper handling of explicit deny rules
  • Change maintains separation between cron (task scheduling) and gateway (infrastructure control)

Confidence Score: 5/5

  • This PR is safe to merge with minimal risk
  • The change is a single-line addition to a tool allowlist with comprehensive test coverage. The fix is precise (adds only cron, not the entire group:automation), well-documented in tests, and follows existing codebase patterns. No breaking changes or security implications.
  • No files require special attention

Landed on main via consolidated reliability fix commit:
53f9b7d

This PR’s root cause/fix direction was preserved in the landing commit, with broader cluster integration:

  • cron included in coding profile path
  • gateway /tools/invoke regression coverage
  • cross-cluster announce reliability fixes landed together for the 25800/25656/25842 set

Thank you for the focused investigation and tests.

* fix: normalize "bedrock" provider ID to "amazon-bedrock"

Add "bedrock" and "aws-bedrock" as aliases for the canonical
"amazon-bedrock" provider ID in normalizeProviderId().

Without this mapping, configuring a model as "bedrock/..." causes
the auth resolution fallback to miss the Bedrock-specific AWS SDK
path, since the fallback check requires normalized === "amazon-bedrock".
This primarily affects the main agent when the explicit auth override
is not preserved through config merging.

The gateway requires controlUi.allowedOrigins when binding to LAN.
On Render, the persistent disk starts empty with no openclaw.json.

on first boot (safe behind Render's HTTPS reverse proxy).

v2026.2.24 — cron still not injected into agent tool list

Thanks for landing this. On v2026.2.24 (51d76eb), cron is still missing from the agent's available tools at session startup.

Config (relevant parts):

"cron": { "enabled": true },
"tools": {
"sandbox": {
"tools": {
"allow": ["group:runtime", "group:fs", "group:sessions", "group:ui", "cron", ...]
}
}
}

openclaw sandbox explain confirms cron passes policy:

allow (global): ... cron ...
deny (global): canvas, nodes, gateway, ... (no cron)

Policy is correct, but the tool schema is not sent to the model provider. The agent sees: read, write, edit, exec, process, browser, web_search, web_fetch, sessions_, subagents, session_status, image, memory_ — no cron.

It looks like the coding profile fix addresses /tools/invoke but the tool definition injection into agent sessions is a separate code path that still skips cron.
