This is great, thank you!
The test itself looks good. StandardMessageCodecTest.java also needs to be added to the sources array in BUILD.gn, so that when the tests are built that file is included and can be imported. Otherwise the test will fail to build through our build system on CI when run_tests.py tries to execute it.

Added tests for #11283. The itEncodesNullObjects test fails with the branch before the merge and succeeds with the master branch
