Reverted in 38106c2. There were a few type failures uncovered in https://buildkite.com/elastic/kibana-on-merge/builds/83233#019aeb12-1cca-4119-abc2-8cea9b8c4d44.

I think these were masked by a caching issue unfortunately. That should be resolved now, for when we re-open the upgrade.
