Summary

Note

This PR merges into a feature branch.

This PR removes support for the accentSecondary variant of badges.
This was initially added while accentSecondary was still being considered a regular usage, but latest design discussions are moving away from accentSecondary as a color for e.g. Buttons and Badges.

To proactively prevent further usage of it, we're removing it again.
This change was discussed with @ek-so.

QA

  • confirm that EuiBadge, EuiNotificationBadge and EuiBetaBadge don't support accentSecondary variants

As these are merged into a feature branch, my idea is to add the changelog on the PR that will merge the feature branch to main instead as that's what will be relevant to main. But feel free to challenge that. 🤔

As these are merged into a feature branch, my idea is to add the changelog on the PR that will merge the feature branch to main instead as that's what will be relevant to main. But feel free to challenge that. 🤔

To add to my point:
The change here as an example: If we had added a changelog before, then this PR would add a changelog to remove this. So main would have both included, while it's not relevant. In the end what will be relevant is the changes against main, which for badges then won't say anything about adding variants as that's the state - as of now.

Thanks for clarifying, Lene 👍🏻 as long as the changelog will be completed at some point, I'm fine with skipping it for now.

[8.x] Upgrade EUI to v98.2.1-borealis.1 (#204783)

This PR introduces the Borealis enabled EUI package to `8.x`.
The intention is to support new features being developed that need to
live in `main` as well as `8.x`.

All `8.x` versions should continue to use the current Amsterdam theme.
To ensure this even with upcoming changes to the default theme for EUI,
we're adding `euiThemeAmsterdam` on `EuiProvider` usages manually.

## Description

the specific changes to support `@elastic/eui-theme-borealis` as only
Amsterdam is supported as theme in `8.x`.
