This EPICS details a collection of different improvements that can be done from the Participatory Experience point of view. Its goal is to systematize currently existing problems and potential improvements at a minor scale) so we can prioritize, add, remove and discuss them before new developments start and as a reference prior to major potential redesigns.

The goal of this EPIC is to discuss and collect minor usability issues, not to proposal general or complex redesigns. Please feel free to comment and we can add/remove/discuss any of these before moving then to specific issues and making the PRs.

General Home Page UX improvements

• Adaptive cards on front page: if there is only one process/assemblies the card should expand and take the full width of the front page. This is very common when an organization starts using Decidim. Participatory-space General Home Page /processes /assemblies

• Improve PAST|ACTIVE|UPCOMING|ALL tab/filter experience: it is not very visible, many people report problems when trying to find old processes. Process list: Improve filters #3629
• For each space: add short explanation text on top to explain what the participatory space is -> System help / Process intro #4136

Admin panel

• Admins often find things to do, edit, improve, by navigating through the user/participant front-end. Next they have to navigate a complex admin route to find the same item from the admin back-end. Is it possible to add a link for direct edition of the item a the front-end that brings you to the backend? Link in admin to pre/view item in the front end, and viceversa #3639

Sign-up

• A huge obstacle for early onboarding to the platform, particularly for small actions like registering for a meeting or responding to a survey, is a lack of fast registration method, long forms and email verification unable a fast onboarding. In order to avoid this we want a faster sign-up/registration wizard that allows a quick user creation, where some things like email verification can be delayed and the participant can interact with the platform immediately.

Proposals

Fridge

• Order/weight processes and assemblies so the display order can be managed
• Highlighted assemblies display first on front page
• "How do I take part in a process?" section on home page is process centered. We should be able to display or generalize it to other spaces → needs-definition
• Home page stats compute only active-processes, all processes need to be displayed.
• Improve result management to be like proposal management
• Hide complex configuration under a tab "advances configuration”, leaving default config and non-mandatory fields hidden at first sight. The size of forms is now overwhelming for the admin experience

Initiatives

• When no Open initiative exists display closed initiatives
• Update M and XL cards to look more like proposals (e.g. progress bar)

Debates

• Debates cannot be ordered and this precludes the possibility to use Debates like a forum. Debates should be displayed by default as 1. recently active (most recently created or commented), 2. More comments, 3. More endorsements

Others

• Extend Endorsability to all components
• Smaller Decidim logo in black-white-grey
• On mobile, no notification icon appears on mobile navigation. It is all hidden on dropdown menu
• On mobile, when within a participatory-space-instance (e.g. a participatory process or assembly), when clicking on a menu item (e.g. proposals) and navigating within (e.g. visiting a specific proposal), it is impossible to return to the menu-item main page (e.g. the main proposal page) because the menu-item becomes the dropdown action button for the rest of the menu: e.g. on mobile try to go to general proposal page from here: https://www.decidim.barcelona/processes/lesrambles/f/2393/proposals/12503
