It is announced for the information of the general public that the 2021 GIP Membership Application window is opened, commencing from 1st June 2021 to 13th August 2021 (midnight).

Application for membership should be completed by midnight of 13th August 2021. Hard copy applications should be delivered at GIP Secretariat, Block D (Room 9), Service Road, Ministries, Accra – in the Head Office building of the Town & Country Planning Department.

INTRODUCTION:

It is announced for the information of the general public that the 2021 GIP Membership Application window is opened, commencing from 1st June 2021 to 13th August 2021 (midnight).

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Fully completed Membership Application Form. You are required to complete the application form online at https://gip.org.gh. You have the option for completing the hard copy form, but this will be at an additional cost of Ghc100 to the applicant. Please attach (upload) the following as part of the application package:
  • *Passport-sized photo
  • *National Service Certificate
  • *Three (3) different planning professional outputs, including technical reports, publications, designs or schemes, policy documents, plans, etc. These reports or documents should be endorsed by the appropriate Head of Department or employer.
  • Academic Certificate(s)

    The Academic Certificate(s) should indicate qualification(s) in Planning from a recognized University or from any recognized institution of higher learning or from the Institute. The total number of credits from courses leading to such academic qualification in Planning from the GIP shall not be less than 30 credits and not less than 90 credits from other Institutions.
  1. At least three years of post-qualification practical work experience (for Corporate Membership applicants) and exhibiting sound knowledge in Development Policy, Planning Techniques, Practice, Procedure, and Legislation.
  2. In the case of applicants who are currently practicing (as Planning officers) but do not have the requisite academic qualifications, you will be required to participate in the Basic Professional Qualification Course organized by the Institute. You can apply for this course here (www.gip.org.gh).
  3. Pay the requisite application fees of GH600.00, including examination fees Separate fees shall be paid for Membership Certificate and accessories upon qualification. Payments should be made via MTN MoMo Number 0244448608. Evidence of payment should be sent to the same number via WhatsApp. Applicants who fail to pay by the deadline of the application process will not be presented for examination.
  4. Applicants will be assessed at a date to be disclosed to applicants whose applications meet all requirements. The assessment will take the form of written examination (50 marks) (Multiple Choice) and Interview (50 marks). Applicants will require 70 marks to qualify for membership.
