The Empire – Weekend Writing Prompt #234

My entry for this week’s Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt.

wk 234 empire

The Empire

“Uncle Zip, tell us a story! Pleeease!”

“Allright, allright. Listen!

“Once upon a time, a young fellow named Swift went on a journey. He wanted to see the world, travelled far and wide but was always unhappy because everybody hated him.

“That changed when he met Flippa, his true love. They married, had many children and instated our empire. Do you know which empire that is?”

“The empire of fleas!”

Combination – Crimson’s Creative Challenge

This is my response to Crimson’s Creative Challenge #155 and Crimson’s Creative Challenge #156

I had a story in mind for #155 but just didn’t get around to writing and posting it at the time. So why not combine them, I thought. I have seen Dale do it, so there… 😉

The CCC challenge is open for everyone and asks for creative responses like flash-fic stories, poems, pictures, captions, and, and, and… check it out!

StarBurst

The hab-stations look like shining ferris wheels against the blackness of space and are the most beautiful sight in the world when you get back from a mission. They are the hottest real estate in the solar system right now.

“This stuff is pink!”

“It’s called rosé, and it’s wine, not ‘stuff’.”

Vellichor – Weekend Writing Prompt #233

wk 233 vellichor

My entry for this week’s Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt.

Vellichor

“Remember Vellichor,” he says and kisses me goodbye. He’s always been mysterious.

Three weeks without a word turn worry into panic. I have to do something.

I rush to the library where we first met.

“Vellichor,” I whisper.

I stare at the scintillating doorway appearing out of nowhere.

Project 10K (P10K) October 2021

November. The year is almost over. To those of you who participate in NaNoWriMo: Good Luck and enjoy the fun. I envy you in a way, because I like the atmosphere, but I’ve learned that for me, writing so much in such a short time is not good. I think about maybe joining the Camp in April again, because there you can set your own goals. Like you can here… 🙂

How was your October? Did you find the time to write, to meet your goals? Tell us all about it.

Here are our standard questions:

Do you need a little incentive for writing more regularly? Then this project is for you.

  1. Did you meet your writing/editing goals?
  2. Did you have fun writing?
  3. Did the P10K help with motivation?
  4. What are your plans for next month?
  5. Anything else you want to tell us, questions you want to ask?

Every morning during breakfast I stare at the old photograph of the space station on the wall. Working there was my dream.

Chemistry

A dash of dragon claw powder—careful, not too much.

A drop of mugwort elixir, an ounce of mandrake gel, a sprinkle of henbane powder and a pinch of arrowroot.

They Come in Legions – Weekend Writing Prompt #231

I’ve seen Sammi’s prompts around for a while now and been tiptoeing around it, because I really don’t have much time and the challenges I participate in usually keep me busy enough. But I really do like Sammi’s prompts and so now I’m participating in Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt #231.

Maybe I can keep it up.

wk 231 legion

They Come In Legions

Buzzing and humming, the swarm darkens the room.

My nerves are frayed.

They should be harmless, they should not swarm like that.

They touch me! They sting!

Shouldn’t have burnt their nest.
