Aaaahrghghghggh!!!

Why does my site look so funny, you ask? It’s because of European data protection and Google fonts.

If you use Google fonts on a website (or imbed maps or any other Google service,) your IP number will be logged and your activity can be tracked by Google. This, according to the European data protection law, is illegal. Someone in Germany has apparently sued someone and WordPress is urging the theme creators to host the fonts on their servers (which eliminates the tracking). WordPress did this already for the theme Twentytwentytwo, that’s why I switched for the time being. I hope that my old theme will make the switch to hosted fonts soon, or maybe I chose another theme all together. Right now I don’t have time for that though. So…

NaNoWriMo or NoNoWriMo

I didn’t want to stay away for long and slunk around the Friday Fictioneers prompts for several weeks now. Nothing came to mind, I feel a bit empty, without new ideas. I still have too much work. But suddenly I have this urge to do the NaNoWriMo… Crazy, right?

I want to get back into the writing mood, and maybe pushing myself a bit will help. I’ve had this story on the backburner for a while now, have a lot of notes and a rough outline… and would like to just write. Be more of a pantser than a plotter for a change. Write away and use a lot of place holders like TK and XN when I haven’t thought about things thoroughly yet. I don’t really care if I make the 50K words as long as I find myself stringing words together again. So… am I crazy?

Eventually, I’ll get ideas for the prompts again, I miss the FF community. And I’ll have to catch up on Sammi’s LOTR reading, I’m so far behind.

Have a rose. 🙂

Picture belongs to me.

A Tiny Break

Hello friends and fellow Fictioneers, I’m on a short break. Work overwhelms me, so does the heat and everything. I have no intention to stay away for long though, maybe another week or two.

I’ve rediscovered reading a lot. I was rereading books from childhood a while ago (fun and also horrible) and now am re-reading old favourites and it’s great. I did remember what it felt like to read, and read, and read some more but was too distracted by too many things for far too long. Now I got back in the reading mode, I hardly visit social media, seldom watch a movie, no TV, but read.

And I’m cooking/preserving a load of tomatoes, peppers and eggplants we ‘rescued’ from a farmer’s rubbish heap. Today I’ll make Ajvar.

See you soon. 🙂

Graffity

Stella looks around and sighs. Yesterday she put the glass tables up, today they are ‘adorned’ with graffiti, like everything else in the neighbourhood. Disillusioned kids without hope for a future, she thinks. They need an outlet for their frustration.

There, On The Hill

There, on the hill, shines the palace in all its glory.

What? I park the car and rub my eyes.

Wrecked

”Look at that, can you believe it? Trash everywhere. It looks like a horde of barbarians ran through and wrecked everything. What has the world come to?”

Freedom

Oh look, a dragon! I wasn’t aware that any of these are still around. Not for much longer though, that I know for sure.

Terra Mater

Look at that lovely, green neighbourhood. Too bad it has no future. The children make every effort to destroy it.
