Executive Team

The GCIG Executive Team provides strategic leadership and governance to guide the organisation’s mission and vision. Comprising the Executive Officers and Executive Committee, this team represents a diverse group of experienced leaders from across the global gynecologic cancer research community.

Executive Officers

The GCIG Executive Team is composed of the current GCIG Chair, the Immediate Past Chair, and the Chair-Elect, who collectively lead the GCIG Board of Directors and Executive Committee during their respective terms. Each role has a two-year term.

Michael Bookman

GCIG Chair (Dec 2024)

Dr. Michael Bookman, Director of Gynecologic Oncology Therapeutics at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco, California, currently serves as President of the Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup(GCIG) — the first GOG-F member to hold this role. With over 20 years of involvement in GCIG, he brings a transformative vision focused on global collaboration, research excellence, and advancing pragmatic, inclusive clinical trials worldwide.

Christian Marth

GCIG Chair-Elect

Professor Christian Marth, Chair-Elect of the Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup (GCIG), has over 20 years of experience in gynecologic oncology leadership, including roles as President of AGO Austria, Council member of the ESGO, President of the Austrian Association of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Chair of the ENGOT. We look forward to his visionary leadership as the next Chair of GCIG.

Alison Brand

Past GCIG Chair

Prof Alison Brand AM, former Chair of the Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG) from 2012 to 2018, is now Past Chair Executive Board of Directors and current Chair of the Membership Committee. A recognized leader in her field—honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia—she has driven key initiatives in clinical trials, and organisational growth.

Jennifer O'Donnell

Director of Operations

Jennifer O’Donnell earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph and spent 15 years at Queen’s University, with over a decade dedicated to clinical research. She joined GCIG in 2018 to support operations and became Director of Operations in 2023. Jennifer is honoured to be part of the GCIG community and is excited to continue contributing to its meaningful work.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee, a small group elected from the Board of Directors and composed primarily of the Corporation’s Executive Officers and key Committee Chairs, provides strategic and operational oversight of GCIG activities. Chaired by the Board Chair, it reviews and endorses programs, reports and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors, and may establish new working groups to support GCIG’s mission and governance.
