About LA-PrEP Power

LA-PrEP Power: Shaping the Future of HIV Prevention for Key Populations is a collaborative initiative designed to increase the accessibility and uptake of Long-Acting Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (LA-PrEP), such as injectables and oral medications, by tailoring delivery methods to the specific needs of key populations. Funded by Gilead, ViiV Healthcare, and MSD, and implemented by Global Black Gay Men Connect (GBGMC), AVAC, and the Global Key Population HIV Prevention Advisory Group, this three-year initiative focuses on providing innovative solutions to prevent HIV in the communities most at risk.

OUR GOAL

We are empowering key populations worldwide by addressing their specific needs and preferences around the use of HIV prevention methods, including oral medications and long-acting options. We aim to ensure that every individual who needs preventive measures can access them in a form that suits their lifestyle and circumstances.

Project Objectives
& Key Activities

Comprehensive Market Assessments

We are analyzing the current landscape of PrEP usage while engaging with the needs of key populations. Key considerations include geographical distribution, accessibility barriers, and the potential benefits of Long Acting PrEP.

Advanced Demand Forecasting

We are using cutting-edge modeling techniques developed by the HIV Modelling Consortium to predict uptake and identify the optimal distribution strategies for Long Acting PrEP across diverse populations and regions.

Innovative Human-Centered Design Research

We are collecting data on the preferences, behaviors, and barriers faced by key populations in adopting Long Acting PrEP. This research informs the development of targeted, culturally appropriate strategies for education and engagement.

Development and Deployment of Educational Materials

We are creating and sharing tailored educational content that effectively communicates the benefits of using Long Acting PrEP, ensuring that key populations are informed and empowered to make decisions about their health.
