Georgia Rivers is dedicated to providing everything you need to explore the rivers near you.

Georgia Rivers is the state’s nonprofit partner running the Georgia Water Trail Network. This network of water trails, similar to hiking trails, includes nearly 40 waterways and 2,350 paddling miles. These water trails promote outdoor recreation tourism for rural economic development and improve quality of life for all Georgians. Georgia Water Trails Network

Water trails are the water equivalent of a hiking trail, and include blueways, canoe trails, and paddle trails are all water trails. Each water trail has access points along the river, like trailheads, for putting boats in the water or taking them out.  Water trails are suitable for day-trips in canoes, kayaks, and SUPs, and can be various lengths and are used by paddlers, anglers, hikers and picnickers of all ages and ability.

Georgia’s network of water trails comprise hundreds of miles of navigable waterways and stretch to every corner of the state. Like the water equivalent of a hiking trail, each water trail has safe public access points and are suitable for day-trips.

Georgia River User’s Guidebooks

Dive deeper into the rich cultural and natural history of Georgia rivers in our Georgia River User’s Guidebook series. Georgia Rivers, in partnership with the University of Georgia Press and local watershed groups, has created a series of recreational guides to Georgia’s rivers authored by Joe Cook.  These guide books facilitate recreational use of our rivers for boating, fishing and other water-based activities, and document the rich cultural and natural history associated with Georgia’s rivers.
