Dates

The hackathon will commence this summer on July 27th, 2024 at 9:00am. More details TBA, including a full schedule to be sent to registered competitors at the end of June. The hackathon will last for a total of 2 week, with 1-2 extra days allocated for judging. During these days, competitors are free to continue joining hackathon gaming and social events or work on other projects!

Eligibility

This hackathon has no eligibility requirements aside from the ones listed in the main page. We welcome competitors of any age to game develop with us!

Project and Submission Requirements

Your final game must be fully uploaded into our submissions box. Please ensure there are no issues or technical difficulties associated with your files, and include any information judges must know in order to download, run, or view your game. All coding within the project must be created during the hackathon timeline in order to be considered for prizes; graphics and design are permitted to be made 2 weeks prior to the hackathon start date.

Prizes & Awards

Prizes and Awards can be found on the main page, including a Milky Way Studios internship and corporate internship spots that offer a potential signing bonus opportunity once enrolled in the internship and completed a given project. These spots will be given at leisure of the organizers of this hackathon based on the quality and competitiveness of the hackathon as evaluated by judges. If participants do not meet the judge or sponsor's standards and expectations, there is no requirement or liability for the hackathon to distribute any prizes. Based on the prizes listed on the hackathon site, all sponsors may distribute any number of prizes up to the stated amounts/winners based on whether winners and competitors meet a determined standard of quality. Additionally, each sponsor is responsible for providing their corresponding prize and the hackathon nor its organizers are liable for prizes.

We ask competitors to put their best work forward to increase their chances of earning a prize!

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

The judging criteria and winner selection will be fully announced near the start of the hackathon as to prevent competitors from starting early. While preparing some basic art, assets, planning, and ideation for your game is allowed ahead of time, we will be carefully reviewing every game to ensure the actual programming was made within the competition timeline.
