Our Mission

To shape the future of African cities as inclusive, resilient, and climate-smart hubs that support thriving communities and sustainable economic growth.

Our Vision

To catalyze the transformation of urban environments across Nigeria and Africa by fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and promoting policies and practices that advance sustainability, resilience, and equitable development in cities.

About Future Cities Summit 2026

Future Cities Summit is Nigeria’s leading platform for advancing sustainable, climate-resilient urban development. Convened annually by Green Building Council Nigeria (GBCN), the Summit brings together policymakers, investors, developers, professionals, and innovators shaping the country’s built environment.

Now in its fourth edition, Future Cities Summit 2026 takes place in Lagos under the theme:
“Building the Future: Scaling Sustainability for Greener Cities.”
Nigeria is urbanising at unprecedented speed. Construction is accelerating. Infrastructure systems are under pressure. Climate risks are intensifying.

At the same time, national ambition is strengthening – with cities and buildings now central to Nigeria’s climate commitments and emerging Decarbonisation & Resilience Roadmap.
The question now is not ambition. It is scale.

How do we move from isolated green projects to market-wide transformation? From policy intent to bankable delivery? From pilots to repeatable, investable models?

FCS 2026 focuses on unlocking that shift.

This year’s Summit will explore:
  • Governing growth in fast-expanding cities
  • Financing and de-risking sustainable urban projects
  • Delivering green buildings and housing at scale
  • Strengthening standards, institutions, and enforcement
  • Building resilience into infrastructure, neighbourhoods, and systems

By convening leaders across government, finance, industry, academia, and civil society, the Summit creates a structured space to align direction, surface constraints, and accelerate scalable solutions for Nigerias urban future.

Future Cities Summit is more than a conference. it is a platform for shaping how Nigeria builds next.
