I guess it has to do with the fact that my life is pretty boring, and also the fact that LiveJournal is really boring (fyi: this is a direct insult to each and every one of you! just thought I'd make that clear!) I'm still pretty excited about going to see Mono and Explosions in the Sky! HELLZ YESSSSSSSSSS! I think I'm also going to try to see Jarvis in NYC! IDK about this yet, because it would require: 1. Getting a ticket 2. Getting to NYC 3. Finding a place to stay in NYC All this seems like a lot of work, but w/eeeeeee! I also am thinking of going to TURONTOH for the Pipettes and to see Sara!!!!!!!! That would mean that we could wear our Sundays shirts together! Oh god, can you even imagine how cool we'd look?! We'd seriously seriously be the coolest people ON EARTH! I spent like 15 minutes trying to convince my roommates into letting me call them "Ding Dong"!!!! Unfortunately, neither one went for it! Even when I said that they could call me either "Big Slut" or ... actually I forget what Anders wanted to call me, but it was something about being a slut as well! Today I had felafel and couscous and salad AND FRUIT SALAD! Ugh, it was so good! I'm going to go "study" now! Lolz, I haven't done anything useful all day and it's 8pm now! hot flashes and swedish bands! Saturday Feb 3rd 07 @ 08:20pm ₪    ♪ ♫    anxious So, today was a really weird day. I'm pretty sure I had a HOT FLASH! I'm not even kidding. I'm actually too scared to refresh my memory on the exact symptoms of a hot flash, but in my autonomic nervous system class, someone did a presentation about hot flashes (well, about menopause in general!) and I swear to god, I had a hot flash. I got my period today, but I still wanted to go get some work out trousers, so I went, and then of course I went to the Ardenes outlet and bought myself another THREE headbands to add to my ridiculous collection of something like 10 (actually, 11! I just counted!) headbands! (I mean alice bands, for you UK folk!) So my cramps got pretty bad for a while, so I went to Zellers to get some tylenol, but they only had regular strength advil, but I just grabbed that and went to the til. Then all of a sudden I got really dizzy and I felt like I was about to faint (I've never fainted in my life!), so I was getting freaked out! I just desperately wanted to take some pills right then and there, but my mouth was so dry so I needed to get a drink as well, but I didn't want to lose my spot in line by going to find the drinks, and really I think I would've fallen over if I had ventured backwards! So the people in front of me took about 10 years to go through with all these stupid shit, and then I paid for my pills and I was seriously sweating at this point... like basically dripping sweat (srsly it was really gross!) and then I went to some store, got some coke, and sat down and took FOUR advils! Then I sort of fell asleep! God, I'm so classy! I'd be pretty happy to be going through menopause, to be honest! I'm getting tired of these periods anyway! Also, to add to my list of Amazing Swedish Bands That I've Heard Of: The Radio Dept (seriously guys, why didn't you tell me they were good?!) Irene (oh god soo so sososoosos good!) So basically my favourite people ever are usually either Swedish, Scottish or gay! I really hope I never have another hot flash ever ever ever again! I'm seriously so excited for this summer! I have a few plans already! 1. Going on a weekend trip with the UK Moz gang! 2. Going to a UK music festival with Pregs! (OMGOMGOGMOGMGOMGOMGOGM! I can't even tell you how exciting this will be if it actually happens!) 3. Go back to Edmonton (I know, that's not fun, but w/e!) and visit friends and family! I got my Mono ticket today ($13!!!!!), and then I noticed that Say Hi To Your Mom are coming to Montreal (but they're coming the day before I have my final exam and 2 final projects (in my 2 separate courses) due! so I won't be going ;_;) I really love Say Hi To Your Mom! Well, they asked if I was a "traditional Jew" (which they said they were basing on the way I was dressed! LOLZ!) so I figured that's what they meant. This also means that Anders' theory of why all the boy hasidic Jews in the neighbourhood look at me weird is probably true! They probably think I'm like a hasidic Jew gone BAD! You know, I like don't cover my hair all the time, and I sometimes wear colour (other than brown even!) and I soooooometimes wear skirts that go well above my ankles! In conclusion: Montreal is awesome! Oh yeah, and it looks like Moz night will take place at the end of March, maybe? And hopefully (if it doesn't totally bomb) there will be another one at the end of May (for Moz's bday!)!!!!! I'm so so so so so so so so so so so (so!) excited! Sunday Jan 14th 07 @ 12:58pm So, I've pretty much enjoyed myself at every Morrissey/Smiths night I've been to (whether it was a planned Moz/Smiths night or not... Oh Birmingham!) and I really don't think there's one here in Montreal, so I was thinking of starting one. I realise that there will probably be NO ONE there, and that it would only happen once every month or two (if that!) but for people who have started a night at a club, how did you do it? Sylvain, how did your friend (Rebecca?) start that night she DJs at? I'm pretty sure I'd be an awful DJ, but it's a lot easier when all you have to think about is what Moz or Smiths song to play next! 8  in love with the world

She looked retarded, and SHE WAS! Tuesday Jan 9th 07 @ 11:48am So, I thought maybe (just maybe) that McGill Administration would be better than U of A Administration. I am slowly beginning to realise that, to be hired in Admin, you really have to be retarded. There's no two ways around it, every single person who works in Admin at a University is a retard. I checked my tuition fees for this term and they came out to $6000 or so, which is odd since I was expecting only around $1500 or so. I looked at some of the things I was charged and realised I was being charged as an International student (in Quebec universities, there are 3 fee levels: 1. Quebec students, 2. Canadian students, 3. All other students. Once you're in a PhD program, however, there's no more distinction between 1 and 2, so as long as you are Canadian, you will pay as much as a Quebec resident). So, I thought (crazily enough) that since I'm a Canadian citizen that all I'd have to do is go to Admin, show them my ID, we'd have a little chuckle about the situation and it would be fixed. JUST in case, I decided to bring my passport along. I mean, really, that wouldn't be necessary, right? So I get to the office, and I wait around 20 minutes to get to talk to someone. I get there and she asks for my "PR card" (which I later find out is a permanent resident card). I tell her I don't have one, but that I'm a Canadian citizen, and I show her my passport. She then says "oh, I don't know if this is enough" (ENOUGH!?) and she goes to the back to ask the head retard what they think of this flimsy piece of ID. She comes back and asks me if I have my birth certificate with me. I tell her no. She says I'll have to come back with my birth certificate to prove that I really am Canadian. Now, there are a few bits and pieces in this story that really drive me crazy. 1. She first asked for my PR card. So, if I had not been born in Canada, one piece of ID would have been enough to prove that I was Canadian. 2. I HAD MY PASSPORT WITH ME! Can you think of a time when that isn't enough to prove that you are a citizen of a country? There are probably other reasons why this is ridiculous, but I have a class to go to, so I'd better leave or I'll be late (in fact, I'm pretty much already late!) Ugh, IHU UNIVERSITIES! Saturday Jan 6th 07 @ 02:58am So, I realised my bad mood (circa last entry) had pretty much everything to do with the fact that I pretty much didn't leave the house for a few days! Or well... I did leave, but to get groceries or to get my bus pass... Things like that! Today I went out to a club, and it was surprisingly good! I'm a little alarmed that I had two drinks PLUS a shot of tequilla, and I didn't even get a little tipsy! I'm turning into a proper drinker now... which is sad times for my wallet! I suppose I'll just have to predrink! I got THE BEST NEWS EVA! today! EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY ARE COMING TO MONTREAL! And they're playing LITERALLY a block away from where I live! I pretty much pass this place every day (well, when I choose to leave the house!) God this is so amazing! Tickets are only $15! Or $22 if I buy them from Quebec Ticketbastard, but I think I'll just find out which record shops would have tickets (Sylvain, plz tell if you read this!) So, Explosions in the Sky in March, and Mono in April (I think it was April). I pretty much am the happiest EVER right now! Oh, and Morrissey is doing 3 shows in Pasadena in February, but I'm not going to go. I was going to go to just the Saturday show, but then I realised that it would probably end up costing me around $600 (everything included) and that's just ridiculous, especially since it would be RIGHT after my weekend jaunt to Engerland! I'll wait til he does 5 shows in NYC (SRSLY HE WILL! Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass!). I'm glad he's doing California though... His fans there would probably go homocidal(er) if he didn't play there for another year! Maybe he'll go to Toronto? I mean, if he does NYC, he should do Toronto, right? Ugh... I hope so!!!!!! OK, I'm probably really annoying (and frightening) when I'm in such a good mood, so I'll just end the entry now! Byeeeeeeeee! It was like $85 incl. tax and delivery charges and it was supposed to come on Monday, but it came yesterday (and I picked it up from the post office today!) It's really good, except it totally stinks! It smells like something is burning... which probably means that something IS burning :( I'm too scared to check though! LOLZ! W/E! I need to go find a place to buy paper, and I also "need" to go to H&M here cause I haven't yet, and I really think that's fucked up! I bought 3 new headbands (alice bands or whatever you weirdos in britain call them!) yesterday! They're all thick, but one is red, one is pink with huge hearts shaped cutouts in it, and the other one is pink with white/lightpink hearts in it! Yeah... I'm 6! But I'm still wearing my white headband which is kind of lame because I've been wearing it almost nonstop since May! Yesterday I went to this arabic type of desert place and f;woaeighw;eogawy;4eogi8ha;woeifah;weoigha;weoih IT WAS SO GOOD! I had a crepe with nutella, topped with strawberries and bananas and pistashios and honey and almonds OMG! And my friend had a waffle with toooooooons of fruits and some kind of really tasty cheese on it with almonds and pistashios and honey omggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg! Why would anyone opt to wear a plastic bag on their hats when they could use an umbrella? Also, yesterday on the news, I found out that hasidic Jews (the men, anyway) are not supposed to look at women in the eyes, unless they are married to them!
