She looked retarded, and SHE WAS!
So, I thought maybe (just maybe) that McGill Administration would be better than U of A Administration. I am slowly beginning to realise that, to be hired in Admin, you really have to be retarded. There's no two ways around it, every single person who works in Admin at a University is a retard.
I checked my tuition fees for this term and they came out to $6000 or so, which is odd since I was expecting only around $1500 or so. I looked at some of the things I was charged and realised I was being charged as an International student (in Quebec universities, there are 3 fee levels: 1. Quebec students, 2. Canadian students, 3. All other students. Once you're in a PhD program, however, there's no more distinction between 1 and 2, so as long as you are Canadian, you will pay as much as a Quebec resident). So, I thought (crazily enough) that since I'm a Canadian citizen that all I'd have to do is go to Admin, show them my ID, we'd have a little chuckle about the situation and it would be fixed. JUST in case, I decided to bring my passport along. I mean, really, that wouldn't be necessary, right?
So I get to the office, and I wait around 20 minutes to get to talk to someone. I get there and she asks for my "PR card" (which I later find out is a permanent resident card). I tell her I don't have one, but that I'm a Canadian citizen, and I show her my passport. She then says "oh, I don't know if this is enough" (ENOUGH!?) and she goes to the back to ask the head retard what they think of this flimsy piece of ID. She comes back and asks me if I have my birth certificate with me. I tell her no. She says I'll have to come back with my birth certificate to prove that I really am Canadian.
Now, there are a few bits and pieces in this story that really drive me crazy.
1. She first asked for my PR card. So, if I had not been born in Canada, one piece of ID would have been enough to prove that I was Canadian.
2. I HAD MY PASSPORT WITH ME! Can you think of a time when that isn't enough to prove that you are a citizen of a country?
There are probably other reasons why this is ridiculous, but I have a class to go to, so I'd better leave or I'll be late (in fact, I'm pretty much already late!)
Ugh, IHU UNIVERSITIES! WHY CAN'T YOU BE RUN BY NONRETARDS?@QFLOIWEHG?!?!?
