From our accommodations, Hotel Palazzo Priuli, Bob and I set off for mercato di Rialto, a bustling fish and vegetable market. At the end of a week staying in La Fortuna, in Costa Rica, it was time for Bob and me to move on. We were looking forward to a guided bird tour in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve among other things. It was a bumpy ride to Monteverde, but the scenery enroute was gorgeous! Read more

After spending considerable time in Piazza San Marco, where floodwaters provided great reflections of the surrounding buildings, it was on to the famed Rialto fish market hall. We were agog at the vast assortment of fresh fish and seafood in this fish market. Read more
After our morning wanderings on the trails in Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan, Canada, Bob and I devoured a tasty lunch at Manitou Springs Resort & Mineral Spa. We seldom indulge in self pampering so were invigorated by a dip in the healing waters of Little Manitou Lake that fill the spa pools. Read more
Bob has done extensive research over the past number of years into the history of both of our families. Ancestry.com has made this possible combined with archival material from a number of different sources. With this knowledge in hand, we decided to visit a couple of sites relevant to my family’s ancestral history when we traveled to England. Read more
Having paddled in our kayaks from Ahous Bay to Medallion Bay over the course of the morning, the sight of Medallion Beach, on Vargas Island in British Columbia, Canada, was welcome. The distance covered by kayak was only about 10 kilometres this fine day. Read more
Continuing our kayak trip around Vargas Island, British Columbia, saw us waking up on the beach in Ahous Bay after our second night of camping. The temperatures were slightly warmer than the night before, but neither stars nor the moon had been visible when I left the warmth of the tent at midnight owing to the call of nature. Read more
Bob and I, with Claire and Martin, had no sooner pulled our kayaks on shore to make camp in Ahous Bay, Vargas Island, than we found giant wolf tracks made by a Sea Wolf. Read more
