Hello, LiveJournals and/or Dreamwidths. I haven't been here in ages.

(It is really weird to acknowledge that I haven't been here in ages. It is even weirder to have not been here in ages.)

I'm petty much always on Tumblr and Twitter now, so if you want to reach me, those are the social-networking blogs of choice. Also I'm always on GTalk and AIM.

(Despite having changed my SN on both of those platforms, I am convinced that if you aren't following me there it's because you wanted a way to cut ties. I AM NOT OFFENDED BUT I DON'T WANT YOU TO BE OFFENDED IF I NEVER TOLD YOU WHO I AM OKAY OKAY COOL GLAD WE SETTLED THAT.)

But I just wanted to make sure to mention here that if you want SDCC-exclusive Marvel stuff, I put up a post on Tumblr outlining what you should tell me and I will do my best to make your dream a reality!

(My credit card is going to cry by the end of next week. Totally worth it.)

And if you're going to SDCC, let me know and we can hang out! :D? :D?

I am a world of not up to date on LJ or DW, because I am neck-deep in such a ridiculous level of depression that I don't even want to talk about it because I find it boring. But I had to come here today to post, because two things are VERY IMPORTANT.

(1) YULETIDE. Oh my gosh, Yuletide. I got TWO stories, you guys. TWO. And they're both A-Babies fic and they're both BRILLIANT.

Sharon's Christmas Pony is about the origins of Bucky Bear. SPOILER ALERT: it involves Peggy and Sharon Carter, and also Paddington Bear. ALSO IT IS PERFECT.

The Sensational, Inspirational, Celebrational, Muppetational Babysitting Show is a crossover between Muppet Babies and Avengers. YES YOU HEARD ME. At least a few throwaway details from that fic are going to be my headcanon forever now, because they make so much SENSE.

While you're there you should read the third A Babies vs X Babies fic, I Always Need to be Sure of You, which is Bucky Bear's POV about being Steve's favorite toy, with bonus Pizza Dog Plushie and also Star Wars action figures.

Basically the three fics in this fandom combine to be everything I could have possibly wanted from Yuletide and you should all read and enjoy them.

As for me, I wrote one story and one treat, and I am happy to exchange ficlets for guessing which are mine, even though that's basically shooting fish in a barrel because I am the most obvious human being on earth.

2. PARTY. I have decided to have a MUPPET HOLIDAY MOVIE CELEBRATION TIME. More to the point, I have decided to have it TOMORROW (12/27).

If you would like to watch MUPPETS for CHRISTMAS and are free to join, email me or DM me or whatever for my address! I will be showing Muppet holiday movies from 3 PM on. I have a lot of Muppet holiday movies and also pretzels shaped like Christmas trees. Probably we will order dinner at some point. Likely it will be served on paper plates with Captain America on them. Definitely there will be Muppets.

...I am great at planning, shut up.

The 500th episode of Big Brother aired this week (EW article about that, h/t [personal profile] latxcvi), and I feel like I should make some kind of an post about it, because it's been my fandom for seven years now (even if I'm not watching this year) and it's a milestone and all that.

cut to spare your reading lists, but I talk about BB and narrative and suspense and why I love it and why I'm not watching this year.Collapse )

Happy 500 episodes, Big Brother. I miss what you used to be for me, and I hope that someday, you become that again. If not, well, you deepened the way I watch media, and I'd happily wish you 500 more episodes for that alone.

Gratuitous Yearly Days of Awe post

One of the most important parts of the ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is that you reflect over the past year, and you attempt to (A) accept and forgive anything that has been done to you, and (B) apologize and ask forgiveness for anything you have done to others.

Every year, I make this post, and people, er, rarely comment, but just enough do that it seems important to me to keep doing this, year after year.

Anonymous is enabled, and all comments are screened. If I've done anything to hurt you this year, let me know. If there's anything you think I might still be upset over, let me know that too, so that I can reassure you that I'm not. I won't unscreen unless you specifically request I do- or, well, I'll reply, but then I will re-screen immediately. (Er, if it's anon, I do not know if that's possible? But yes. I will try!) The goal isn't to start fresh- that's often not possible- but to acknowledge what has happened over this year (or any previous time, if you so choose) as an attempt to not have it happen again.

I promise to treat anything you say seriously and respectfully, and I will seriously be considering it over the next week, leading into Yom Kippur.

I spent half of Rosh Hashanah services thinking about that High Holy Days Avengers fic I wrote last year. (I am finally responding to comments on it now. A YEAR LATE. Whatever, I'm great.)

Given the rabbi's sermon was about how we need to stop our over reliance on technology, which he illustrated with a youtube video, during a service that was livestreamed on the internet, I feel like I made the right choice.

Except now I am back to wanting to work on the Passover sequel. /o\

First I should probably make my yearly High Holy Days post, though. Although maybe I should do that on Tumblr instead, where more people will read it? Or possibly less, IDK.

Social media is hard. :(

EVERYONE ON TUMBLR WAS RIGHT.

I started watching Elementary around 8:30 PM and now it's 2 AM and I can't sleep because Joan Watson exists.

Hello, the internets! I have been super busy and thus not updating.

Okay, that's pretty much a lie. "Busy" here is defined as "I am terrible at taking care of myself." Not that that's news for anyone, but it constantly surprises me, like someday I will magically be a competent adult. Instead, I rely on friends, because my friends are awesome, and they have collectively convinced me that it would be okay to stay home from work today because I feel crappy and congested and non-functional even though I am not actually at death's door. So because I'm not at work today, I am awake and processing thoughts for the first time in a while, and thus at the update screen.

Of course, now I can't remember what to update about. Let's see.

I went to MJ two weeks ago! that was awesome.Collapse )

The best part of the con for me (sorry, wonderful people I saw) was probably the craft table. Rambling about collageCollapse )

Last week was Passover. It's always kind of awful, but also valuable in a weird way, not the least of which is that it's nice to engage in non-pathological food rituals. My one regret is that I didn't finish (or, let's be honest, more than start- I barely have 2000 words) the Passover sequel to my Avengers Yom Kippur fic. I can't decide if it's even worth finishing and posting now that Passover is over; it kind of defeats the purpose of holiday fic when it isn't even on the holiday.

I know I keep saying this but I am still constantly SO AMAZED AND EXCITED that I am producing creatively in fandom! There are constantly ideas! This isn't "Passover is over so ALL OF MY FIC OPTIONS FOREVER ARE DEAD" but rather "If I abandon the Passover fic, I can work on these other options!Collapse ) It's been almost a year since I fell back into this fannish state, so I'm not sure when it will stop being exciting and revelatory. I figure I still have at least a few months.

Also, if you have any suggestions for which I should work on, I would not say no.

ANYWAY. My point is- that's a lie, I really have no point. But I'm home sick without being on death's door so I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with my time, and you all seemed like a delightful alternative to gloating over completed logic puzzles or complaining more about the new Avengers box set.

Here are two things that are not connected, except for both being discovered last night. I am going to pretend that's a theme to this post though, okay?

(1)

WINTER SOLDIER ALL BUT CONFIRMED FOR SDCC!

Twitter, for the past month or so, has had a lot of gossip about how Marvel has D23 so they won't be showing up at Comic Con. APPARENTLY THAT IS INCORRECT. BRB working on my completely sane camping-out-overnight plans.

(2)

I posted fic!

Just Close Your Eyes and Make Believe (6622 words) by Amy
Fandom: A-Babies Vs. X-Babies, Marvel 616, The Avengers (2012), Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Avengers - Ambiguous Fandom
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Bucky Bear & Steve Rogers, Bucky Bear & Natasha Romanov, Steve Rogers & Natasha Romanov, Bucky Bear & Steve Rogers & Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton & Natasha Romanov, Bruce Banner & Natasha Romanov
Characters: Natasha Romanov, Steve Rogers, Bucky Bear, Clint Barton
Additional Tags: Red Room, Winter Soldier - Freeform, why isn't Bucky Bear a recognized character tag?, this is a pre-school retelling of the Winter Soldier storyline, i'd apologize but i'm not really sorry, playing fast and loose with various marvel canons, does this count as age regression fic?, it's Muppet Babies but with Avengers instead of Muppets, gratuitous cameos from Marvel comics
Summary: Natasha found a battered teddy bear at the playground and took him home to fix. She didn't realize he'd belonged to anyone else first.

(Or, the one where victoria_p did that "tell me what story you think I should write!" meme so I did and she said no, I should write write this one. And then I did. And that is this.)

Apparently- thoroughly accidentally- today is a Winter Soldier-y day! Go read maybe? :D?

when she smiles it's like a revelation

Quote

He told her about his plans to build a house. He'd make it out of gopherwood, like Noah's ark, two storeys high, with a view he could look out on every day with wonder. A house for Tate and Narnie and Jude and Fitz and for their families. A home to come back to every day of their lives.

Where they would all belong or long to be.

A place on Jellicoe Road.
