Brick Documentation for .conn and .col files ?
Posted by: alphonse - Yesterday, 20:21 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (1)

Hello,

I'm trying to code my own Lego building engine, and I need to parse .conn and .col files of the parts in order to reproduce the brick snaping feature.
Do you guys know if there is some documentation about how to read .conn and .col files ?

I found this discussion that helped me but it misses some points https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-28521-po...l#pid59984
I also found another discussion about .col files, but same issue, it is not complete :/

Ideally, I would like to be able to scan a .mpd file and get all the available positions for a chosen brick.

Thank you,

Alf

  Helmet and Visor (7071.dat)
Posted by: Alfred Schmitz - Yesterday, 6:45 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (11)

Hi!

Various Speed Champions sets include a Formula 1 helmet (7071.dat).
Unfortunately, I can only assign a color to the helmet itself, but not to the visor.
I haven't been able to find a solution on the forum.
Is there one?

Best regards
Alfred

  Change of 70681
Posted by: Massimo Maso - 2026-03-26, 1:12 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (2)

Hello,
based on some similar parts it seems to me that the orientation and description of 70681 should be changed to:
Arch  1 x  3 x  1 Inverted  with  1 x  1 Cutout
from Slope Brick Curved  1 x  3 with  1 x  2 Inverted Cutout.

The similiar parts are:
6806 Arch  2 x  6 x  0.833 Inverted
78666 Arch  1 x  2 x  1 Inverted
18653 Arch  1 x  3 x  2 Inverted

Star [LDPE] 1.9.02 Released (SlicerPro2 rectifier settings / auto-save (beta))
Posted by: Nils Schmidt - 2026-03-21, 10:11 - Forum: Parts Author Tools - No Replies

Hey,

this release 1.9.02 lets you disable the rectifier run which is active in SlicerPro2.
I also added the "auto-save" feature for Jeff. It is disabled by default!
I do not recommend to enable this, because of the current side-effects of this new feature (e.g. it clears the current selection in the 3D view on save. You'll find it under "Tools... -> Options... ->Interval for auto-save [minutes]").

As always, you can download LDPE from this page:

http://nilsschmidt1337.github.io/ldparteditor/

Changelog:

(2 new features)

With this release you will be able to...

  • ...toggle the default Rectifier post-processing for SlicerPro.
  • ...use the new "Auto-Save" feature. It is disabled by default. Don't enable it, unless you really need it. I suggest 6 minutes as a setting, the maximum value is 10 minutes. You'll find it under "Tools... -> Options... ->Interval for auto-save [minutes]") (see #521).

The program was tested intensively with "real world" files.
However, something can go wrong in about 140.000 lines of code.

Installation on Windows:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_win32_x64.zip
  2. Run LDPartEditor-1.9.02.msi
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the start menu
Installation on Linux:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_linux_x64.zip
  2. Install ldparteditor_1.9.02-1_amd64.deb
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the menu or via launcher
Installation on Mac OS X:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_mac_x64.zip
  2. Mount LDPartEditor-1.9.02.dmg
  3. Drag LDPartEditor.app to the Applications folder
  4. Copy ldparteditor.sh to your home folder
        4a. Open a Terminal.app and run ./ldparteditor.sh
        4b. Or open a Terminal.app and run /Applications/LDPartEditor.app/Contents/MacOS/LDPartEditor

I listen carefully to your requests and possible complaints. Please leave me a message, with your thoughts and wishes to further improve the software.

LDPE is a 3D CAD application: The overall system requirements are higher. While I recommend to use a powerful 64-bit multicore system, it could be possible, to run LDPE on older machines as well.

System Requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:
  • OpenGL 2.1 compatible Graphics Card
  • Operating System (64-bit): Windows [7 or newer], Linux [e.g. Linux Mint >=22], Mac OS X [>=14]
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor e.g. Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon II (>2.0Ghz)
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Video-Memory: 1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 150 MB
Recommended Requirements:
  • Operating System (64bit): Windows 7,8,10,11, Linux [e.g. Linux Mint >=22], Mac OS X [>=14]
  • OpenGL 3.3 compatible Graphics Card
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor with 4 cores (or more)
  • RAM: >4 GB
  • Video-Memory: >1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 500 MB
  • For a faster start, LDPartEditor and the LDraw™ library should be installed on an SSD.
