After some discussion, the ops have settled on a list of rules specifically in regards to players who wish to return to Kaerwyn and/or players who retired a character that wishes to bring them back to Kaerwyn.
Returning players are relatively common. And sometimes players (regardless if they are returning players or have been regular players for a while) want to bring back characters that they retired. We are making this easier for everyone involved.
These rules were made with the intention to hopefully catch any problem issues that might arise, however ops are not omniscient and situations may come up that we did not anticipate. In that case we will take issues on a case by case basis. We also have the right to update, add, edit, or remove the rules as we see fit.
These rules have been added to the K-Wiki.
Returning Player Rules:
1. If the player returns within 2 years of leaving and they left in good standing (not banned, asked to leave, etc), they do not need to follow the mundane rule for a new character.
Returning Retired Character Rules:
Please note that the ops do keep copies of older, retired characters (as a backup for the players, and as precedent for op rulings). If you need a copy of your old CS (Assuming you did not delete it before leaving), you can ask us for it and we will provide.
Characters can return in one of two main ways: Either they are brought back through the rifter assuming other, existing characters want to bring them back and have access to their world. OR Fate decides to bring them back to Kaerwyn against their will through the same means they originally arrived on Kaerwyn: Through an unintentional rift.

- Characters will need to get a re-approval. Just in case rules changed, these characters will be subjected to existing, present day rules, we just need to make sure they fall in line. If the character does not have much in the way of changes to the skills or GTS (Other than general updating of the CS or GTS) then a quick one op approval is sufficient. If the character gained new skills, abilities, or their GTS changed significantly, they will need a full re-approval like the normal approval process.
- The Character would have had to originally arrived on Kaerwyn via a random fate rift (As most characters do) - not brought here through the Rifter or other means, intentionally.
- Characters would have had to leave Kaerwyn via the rifter. Random rifts or leaps would not work. If they died on Kaerwyn, they can't be brought back with this method.
- The player, if returning, must have left in good standing: They were not banned, and preferably did not ghost anyone when they left.
- If the character did just up and leave without a word to their IC friends/acquaintances, the responsibility is on the player to come up with a reason why the character did so. They did not get randomly rifted offworld, or leaped out. They left via the rifter, and told no one.
- If you (the player) left Kaerwyn and took your character to another RP that acts as a multiversal hub, they either cannot return to Kaerwyn, or anything from that RP must be scratched. The Kaerwyn Setting requires that Kaerwyn is the only multiversal hub. This is non-negotiable.
- Characters will be unable to reclaim old property left on Kaerwyn. This includes but is not limited to: Weapons, technology, tools, real estate property, businesses, etc. Exceptions may be granted on a case by case basis if proof is given showing the Returning Character gave the property to a character that is still on Kaerwyn, and that character is willing to give it back. (Players, if anyone pressures you to make your character give something back to a returning character, let us know ASAP).
