Broken Down California Nuke Plant, San Onofre, Wants to Re-Start

The LA Times has this:

Edison’s San Onofre plan could make things worse, consultant says

A consultant who has criticized Southern California Edison’s handling of the troubled San Onofre nuclear plant issued a report Tuesday saying the utility’s proposed solution for bringing the plant back online could make the issues worse.

The plant has been offline more than three months because of excessive wear in steam generator tubes that carry radioactive water. The wear appears to be occurring when the plant is running at full power and the rate of steam flows causes the tubes to vibrate and rub against each other and against support structures, Edison officials have said. . .  (more)

May 3 Fukushima Daiichi Explosion – MORE

The video we like with the footage speeded up captured a large explosion May 2nd.   What we saw on the Live Cam and posted here on May 3rd looked just like this May 2nd explosion.  We just didn’t get the screen grab til after the flame ball died down a lot.  

So the May 2nd explosion blew AGAIN on May 3rd.

Today on ENE-News they have an item with Arnie Gundersen comments and they added the speed-up footage with the dramatic explosion.  The footage in the link is from May 2 explosion. It shows it very clearly.

Gundersen: “The water is steaming and boiling” still at Fukushima; “Yes, there’s some radiation being given off ”

Ft. Calhoun nuclear plant “likely would have melted down” if operators were not forced by NRC to make enhancements before major flooding
