We dont merely “shuttle you up river”, we care and want you to have an amazing time while with us.   With any water activity, accidents can happen and this is why safety and full disclosure will always come first at Floatery. Any incidents will be posted to our site with what happened, the outcome, and what we learned.  If done correctly, River Tubing is a fun and exciting Summer activity that many enjoy year after year. Did You Know?

At Floatery in Madison, NC, we pour our hearts into restoring the historic Grogans Riverfront (formerly Grogans Tourist Court), a 1930s motel we’re reviving with quality and care. While the bulk of this project is funded personally, the remaining comes from your Dan River Tubing and Camping bookings. Purchased in late 2020, despite challenges like COVID,  inflation, and now Tariffs, your support has driven progress—new roofing in 2023, improved river access, a rinse-off station, upgraded changing rooms, and materials for motel rooms in 2024.  We were hoping for some window additions in 2024, however unexpected legal expenses from defending against unwarranted claims have slowed our efforts, diverting resources from this cherished restoration. We remain steadfast, deeply grateful for your bookings, and committed to transparency, sharing annual updates on how your support shapes this labor of love.

Our Mission

To Co-Exist with Nature!  At Floatery, our love for the great outdoors drives us to create unforgettable river tubing and camping experiences. We designed a welcoming, uncrowded environment perfect for solo adventurers and families alike, offering a true escape from daily life. Our Dan River camping sites, from riverside to treetop, provide unique, spacious retreats that prioritize quality and connection with nature.

We’re passionate about crafting one-of-a-kind outdoor adventures that keep raising the bar. Our greatest joy is watching guests laugh, share stories, and unplug—often forgetting their phones entirely. This is why Floatery exists. While we’re not the cheapest (we avoid overcrowding for a premium experience), we strive to be the best at delivering memorable North Carolina outdoor adventures.

Why Rebrand?

Formerly Dan River Outfitters and Glamping, why did you rebrand?? You have heard of a Winery, everything to do with wine basically.  Welp we are the River Version of that concept, Floatery!  You float and in due time the accomodations float, entertainment float, and the food will float.  Why not Rebrand? As a side note, we didnt want to be limited to JUST the Dan River. We have hopes of having floats on the Mayo River as well. Being partnered with some amazing people who can handle our “Outside of the Box” thinking, the sky is the limit for our fledgling business, why not bring the name along on this journey? If your first River Tubing/Camping trip is amazing, then you are more than likely to give up some screen time to do it again, that is what its all about.

NC Registered Wildlife Preserve

We believe in coexisting with Nature, and is the main reason for many of the items and rules we have in place on the property.  Some include…  

  • Property remains untouched Nov 1 to April 1
  • No Access Pollinator Gardens
  • No Access Wildlife Resting areas
  • Birdhouses throughout the property
  • Plants for Butterflies, Hummingbirds, Dragonflies
  • Mushroom Path
  • Quite time after 10 PM

You will see our Mushroom Path through the Nature Preserve (no access).  Our goal is to be environmentally mindful in our practices and offer education on fungi potential through our future classes. Having been a user of medicinal mushrooms and seeing the benefits first hand, we love introducing those benefits to others. We believe that the more people know about the benefits of Nature, the more they will want to help protect it.

How to Find Us?

We’re based in Madison, NC, close to Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point, NC, as well as Martinsville and Danville, VA. US 220 runs through Madison, linking to Roanoke, VA, and beyond!

Find us on the Lower Level of Grogans Riverfront. 4890 NC HWY 704 Madison NC 27025

To reach us, turn onto Mineral Springs Road, where you’ll spot “Grogans Riverfront” painted in large letters on the motel lobby (currently under restoration). Just past the motel, turn right into our back parking lot behind Grogans. Additional parking is available in front of Building #2 (with red garage doors) along HWY 704—park in the grassy area. Please park considerately, pulling in to face the motel or woods (depending on your parking spot) to maximize space for other vehicles.

Non-customer vehicles left after we close our gates WILL BE TOWED. Our parking is reserved for customers only, as it’s not a public access area. Public parking is available across the bridge on Water Street in Madison. Due to limited spaces, we strictly enforce this policy.
