I’ve not been to the hut for a few Sundays but I went this morning as I needed to buy peanuts and seeds for the birds. I had a mug of coffee, and a couple of dunking ginger nuts, whilst chatting to several folk mostly, and not surprisingly, about the weather.
From there I went to the plot where I weeded for a while then took some photos before calling it a day as it was starting to drizzle again.
There were several Californian poppies out
which are surrounded by Love-in-a-Mist.
Bees were on the Cornflowers
and the Comfrey
There are lots of poppies
which will look wonderful in flower.
Here’s the well hidden pond
, I’m still undecided what to have in the stone feature
and I can’t remember what I sowed in the trough
What is noticeable on the plot is the number of grasses, some of which are several feet tall, all with differing flower heads.
I really don’t have to say what the forecast is for the next couple days , but it does look better beyond that!
This post really made me smile. I love that you can’t remember what you sowed in the planter and that your plans for the stone feature aren’t–well, aren’t set in stone yet.
That’s what I love about my gardening. I love that nature sets the pace, I love that I don’t fret over every little detail, and I love that whatever is growing is a gift. True, a gift I work to have presented to me, but still more payback than my work deserves.
Thanks for posting.

You’ve posted some great pictures, Flighty 🙂 and it’s good to see that the pond is in there somewhere LOL
Nice one of the bee on the comfrey!
I enjoyed the comment above ~ about nothing being ‘set in stone’ 😉 A nice splash of colour would set off the stone feature ~ do you like geraniums??

Simplesie hello and thanks! I’ve done that elsewhere on the plot as well!
I’ve a couple of ideas for the stone feature so expect to see further photos.
I’ll all for that as well, and as you say what we put into it is well worth the return we get.
My pleasure, I’m glad that you enjoyed this entry.
Take care! xx

Glo thanks, I may well have to trim some of the growth around part of the pond.
The bee on the comfrey was at the …th attempt!
I do like geraniums and will put them on the list to consider! xx

Well you are in for a lovely surprise then aren’t you, when the trough sprouts bloom! Don’t forget to tell us what it is!
(I’m thinking of Rolf Harris now when he is just starting one of paintings and he says…’Can you tell what it is yit?’ ) (yit is Austrailian for yet.)
Things are looking grand down on the plot, I’m very impressed and very proud to be honest. Proud to be a little part of it, even if it is just by poking my nose in here and seeing how it all comes together!
It’s rained all day here…tried not to let it get us down…we went to the video store, (we should start calling them DVD stores) and hired the B Movie which is an animated film and lots of fun… It’s amazing how a cartoon bee can cheer a dreary day!
Thank you for the update and glad you got to dunk your ginger nuts! As they should be! xx

Daffy I hope that there’ll be lots of plot surprises, and I won’t forget to tell what they all are!
I’m happy that you’re impressed and proud as that adds to my pleasure in what I’ve done, and will go on doing.
Weather like that is rather rotten isn’t it, especially on weekends!
So we were both looking at bees today. I won’t tell you how many photos of them I have taken to get just one good one.
You’re welcome! That’s the only way I can eat ginger nuts being as hard as they are! xx

Thanks for a lovely plot 124 tour! That’s one of my favourite things to do is go around and see how things are growing. Those nodding headed poppies will be a beautiful addition indeed.

I love the californian poppies – they make it seem sunny even if it isn’t. And the grasses are the same on our allotment – I swear that you can see them growing!

Nikki I’m glad that you enjoyed it! You and me both. There’s lots of them, all self seeded from when I cleared the plot last year. xx

Ellie I keep seeing them furled up because there’s no sunshine! Yes I’m sure that you’re right! xx

Well, here’s to hoping you FINALLY get some decent weather. I mean, rain is great and everything… but I bet you and many other plotters could use some SUN!

Nikki I really do hope so! We could indeed! xx

Flighty, I love the blue cornflowers. Something extra special about blue flowers I think. I wish I had more in my own garden. I am enjoying your photos!

Beginninghere although blue is my favourite colour I have to say that I generally prefer other flower colours, such as white and yellow.
Thanks, I’m glad you like the photos as taking them is still very often a hit or miss affair! xx

The weather is not so good here either. Some days it mostly rains on others it is very muggy and hot, no fun that. BTW it is better not to feed peanuts to the birds during spring and summer. If they feed a whole peanut to their chick it can choke on it and die. Seeds are fine.
Your cornflowers look good. I had sown some too but none came up. Bother!

Yolanda we’ve really had far too much rain, and the ground is waterlogged.
I’m assured that peanuts in mesh feeders are okay as the birds can’t get whole ones from them. I’m also careful when I refill it and make sure that I don’t spill any on the ground.
Thanks! That’s a shame about yours but you do have lots of other lovely flowers that have. xx
