Community Partners
Making a difference in the Lincoln community is one of our core values. Through donations and volunteerism, FireWorks Restaurant supports local nonprofits, schools, and national organizations whose work aligns with our values. Below are some of the partners we’re proud to support.
Breakthrough T1D
Breakthrough T1D is a nonprofit organization that is leading the way to more effective solutions by connecting the brightest minds to advance treatments, influence policy, and improve access to care for Type 1 Diabetes patients. FireWorks Restaurant believes that together, we can make a difference in the fight against TD1. Each September we allow our guests to add a donation to their meals to help us spread the word and raise money for this great cause. In 2025, we were able to raise $13,000 towards this great cause.
League of Human Dignity
The League of Human Dignity works hard to advocate for the rights of those with disabilities and ensure their opportunity to live, work and play in their communities. The League’s Centers for Independent Living provide services for their consumers to live full, independent lives. We are honored to support the League of Human Dignity through donations and participation in the organization’s golf tournaments in Lincoln and Omaha.
Food Bank of Lincoln
The Food Bank of Lincoln operates out of the firm belief that no one in our community should ever have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. By gathering and redistributing surplus food in 16 counties, the organization is helping to alleviate hunger in Southeast Nebraska. Since food is our passion, FireWorks is honored to participate in the Food Bank’s annual “Empty Bowls Luncheon” and “Dine Out to Help Out” programs. Our lifetime contribution to the Dine out to Help out event has exceeded over 55,130 meals to food-insecure families in Southeast Nebraska. In 2025, our donations provided 7,000 meals to food-insecure families in SE Nebraska.
Tabitha Meals on Wheels
For over 50 years and through more than 4.5 million deliveries, Tabitha Meals on Wheels has been providing food and a smile to friends and neighbors around Lincoln. Volunteers deliver 500 hot meals a day, 365 days a year to serve seniors and neighbors in need. We’re proud to support Tabitha since 2010 through participation in Meals on Wheels, financial contributions, event sponsorship, and service on the organization’s board.
Environmental Responsibility at FireWorks
We believe how we operate should reflect the same care we put into our food.
At FireWorks, environmental responsibility starts with the choices we’ve made in how our building is designed, how we use energy, and how we manage resources day to day.
Energy-Efficient Restaurant Design in Lincoln, Nebraska
The FireWorks building is a leader in the restaurant industry when it comes to energy conservation. Strategically positioned windows, skylights and long overhangs maximize natural light and minimizing fluxes in temperature. Our kitchens contain the most energy-efficient cooking equipment available, and our dining rooms contain low-energy light bulbs on programmed timers.
Geothermal Heating and Cooling
FireWorks, along with our sister restaurant Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill (Omaha and South Lincoln locations), use geothermal heating and cooling systems.
While geothermal systems have a larger upfront cost to install, they are about 40%-50% more efficient than conventional heating and cooling systems. So, we save around 40% of what we would spend for heating and cooling costs. Geothermal systems are also environmentally friendly and have lower greenhouse gas emissions than typical rooftop heating and cooling systems.

Largest Privately Owned Solar Array in NE
Telesis, Inc., our parent company, owns one of the largest privately held solar arrays in Nebraska. During peak months, it can generate up to 45,000 kWh of energy, enough to power about 50 homes for a month and help reduce demand on the local energy grid.

Reducing Waste and Limiting Single-Use Plastics
We focus on reducing waste through both large-scale and everyday practices. We recycle glass, paper, and cardboard, and more than 80% of our used fryer oil is repurposed into biodiesel fuel. Across our restaurants, that adds up to an average of 270 tons of recycled materials each year.
We’ve also made thoughtful changes to our takeout materials, using recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable silverware, agave-based straws made from plant fibers, and paper bags in place of plastic.
Locally Sourced Ingredients
We proudly source some of our local produce from Avert™ Vertical Cultivations, an urban hydroponic farm established in 2019 and owned by Telesis, Inc. They specialize in growing fresh, locally sourced produce using innovative methods for maximum safety and quality.
A Rain Garden Along the Billy Wolff Trail
In 2009, we expanded our environmental efforts outdoors with a 5,400-square-foot rain garden containing more than 3,200 native plants, shrubs, and trees. Designed to collect and filter rainwater from nearby surfaces, the garden helps capture pollutants before they reach local waterways.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, pollutants in stormwater runoff account for nearly 70% of all surface water pollution. Rain gardens like ours can remove up to 90% of those pollutants, making a measurable difference in the health of our local environment.
Sustained entirely by natural rainfall and runoff from surrounding areas, the garden is both water-efficient and self-sustaining. It also serves as a natural rest stop along the Billy Wolff Bike Trail and is recognized as an official Nebraska Statewide Arboretum affiliate site.
Throughout the seasons, you’ll find native pollinators, coneflowers, wild bee balm, and other Nebraska plants, just one small part of our ongoing commitment to the community we’re part of.

Taking Care of Our Team
The same values that guide how we support our community and care for our environment also shape how we take care of our team. We focus on clear expectations, accountability, and creating a workplace where people can take pride in what they do and continue to grow.
If that’s the kind of place you want to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.
