As promised in the feedback poll, here are the sign-ups for round eight! However, due to low participation last round, we're going to try something a little different with the sign-ups this time. Rather than closing the sign-ups on a specific date, we will wait until we have a minimum of eight makers signed up (though more are always welcome!).

Round 8 Sign-Ups are currently OPEN.

Once we have eight (or more) makers signed up, we'll post the first challenge, which will then be open for two weeks.

Basic Rules (see here for all the rules and details)

• firefly_rumble doesn't have eliminations. Winning the round is based on your overall cumulative score. Points will be given out as follows:
  • 1st: 4 points
  • 2nd: 3 points
  • 3rd: 2 points
  • Special Category: 1 point
  • Moderator's choice: 1 point
• Failure to submit an icon for a challenge will result in 0 points for that week. You may still earn points for voting.
• Each time you enter a challenge you earn a point. The more challenges you enter the better your overall score is at the end of 10 challenges.
  
• Participants will also earn 1 point for voting. You can still earn this point if you did not submit an icon for that challenge. While detailed feedback is not required, it is welcome!
• If for some reason you can't or do not wish to participate after signing up, please let me know so I can remove your name from the tally list. If you need to skip a challenge, please leave a comment on the challenge post letting me know.
• Participants who skip 3 challenges in a row will be disqualified.

Bonus Points

• Promotions will be awarded with points. For each promo you do, you can earn yourself a point. A total of 3 points can be earned this way. Please don't promote in "promo-only" communities. Post a link or a screen capture (if it's a locked post) in a comment to this entry.
• You can also earn bonus points with referrals. Just have the person you referred post your username in their sign up comment. You can earn an unlimited number of points this way.
• A few promotional banners/buttons can be found at this post.
• Please note: Feel free to promote where applicable (and please be sure to check the community rules to ensure promotion is okay). If someone gets to a comm to promote first, please don't post again.

Bonus points will be available up until sign-ups close.

Under the cut is a brief poll with the typical questions (favourite and least favourite challenges, etc.), as well as the all important "do you want a round 8?" question!

Both snoggings and I would like to run round eight, so if there's interest there will definitely be one, hopefully sometime over the summer (estimated date for sign ups would be between the beginning and middle of June). However, next round we're going to leave sign ups open until there is a minimum number of participants, just to ensure that we have enough entries every week, so that there are more places than participants. :)

Even if you didn't participate this round, please feel free to reply to the poll! We'd love to hear from everyone, even people who are just thinking about (but not positive about) participating in round 8. All of the comments on this post are screened, and anonymous comments should be enabled. We're open to all feedback and constructive criticism.

I just wanted to thank everyone for a wonderful round - I know that we had a small number of participants, but there were a lot of really wonderful icons this round from everyone, and it was a lot of fun seeing everyone's entries each week! :D

Normally I would post a tie-breaker poll, but in this instance (because all of the votes are very close and because voting has already remained open longer than normal) I'm going to extend challenge ten voting until tonight, March 27 - it will close at midnight GMT.
