A Sandhill Crane bugles from a field flooded by melting snow, above.
I encountered a number of these regal birds on a recent drive through eastern Oregon:

There was no one else around, and no other cars on the long road.
At another isolated spot, a Ferruginous Hawk kited like a pale ghost over the sagebrush, searching for a ground squirrel or a jackrabbit:

While the hawk hunted, the liquid song of a Western Meadowlark deepened the silence.
Meadowlarks are often seen on fences and power lines:

The only Golden Eagle I saw on my journey was in a remote part of the country. It was already moving away from the road as I slowed the car, but it circled around for a few photos:

Thanks for stopping by, and may you be well!
