Just a few last photos from Lahore fort. If you missed some, check my LJ and scroll down, there's several posts with pictures. Okay, here we have just bits and bobs of stuff. These are the last of my pictures that are interesting at all lol. Next up will be Shalimar gardens.
In a previous post, we saw the shah's public audience chamber. This is the private audience chamber, for more important guests. The nifty thing about this, although it's not in the photo shot, is that there is a large window directly opposite (and quite a ways away) and between the window and the shah are 5 fountains. This is, in effect, highly efficient A/C.
Okay, you've seen the details - now some landscapes to get an idea of how big the place is. I've been meaning to mention, the lahore fort is the equivalent of an english castle. Large, secure walls surrounded the palace, harem, and everything else needed for a cozy, summer cottage.
The Badshahi masjid (the kings mosque) - this section takes up about 1/16th of the fort.
Lahore Fort is stunning. I can't rave about it enough. Built by a mongul king, it's about the size of downtown london. I took over 200 pictures and didn't even cover everything. I'm not going to inflict them on you lol - well. okay, you twisted my arm. 5, just because .... well, elephants!
The stairs the elephants climbed to take the king in and out of the fort. They're about 2 feet wide and have a step of about 2 inches. Elephants aren't known for they're ability to climb stairs. A small ditch is usually enough to contain them.
The paid for reviews drive me nuts. There's a chicky on twitter who posted hundreds of them, one after the other. All very generic 'reviews', clearly she didn't read more than the title of the work.…
