I decided to finally do a post that stays up at the top of my LJ that has a list with links to all of the fics I have ever written. Before they had been hanging about in my memories and it got to be a pain to find the links when I needed to.

Well...three years since my last post. And...I guess many updates to be had.
--Yesterday, former president Trump was almost assassinated. As much as I hate him, I think his death would have started something much worse for our country. Plus, it would be weird having a sane Republican (oxymoron?) running for president, and much more dangerous.
--I no longer work at the library. We got a new manager who took some weird dislike to me and ended up bullying me for a year and reporting me to HR for every little thing she thought was wrong. Long story short, after 19.5 years of working for the library, she got me fired. Kinda a relief, actually. I was having panic attacks and getting severe depression. I don't miss those days at all! I do miss the books. Been over a year and I still can't be bothered to read a book again. So the worst thing, is she killed my enjoyment of books.
--Now I am working at Walmart. Actually, for over a year now. I work in the Online Grocery Pickup department. I fucking love it. Pay is meh compared to the library, but my coworkers are amazing and I am getting in shape kinda. Soooo muuuuch walking!
--I got a new car. New as in only 20 miles on it. I got it a couple months before I left the library. Which in hindsight was a horrible idea because at the time I KNEW the job was going down the toilet. But, in a way, I think the new car kept me from driving my older, crappier one off a bridge, so there is that.
( Read more...Collapse )Seems like I can only manage a post every other year.
Not that anyone is around to read this. But I guess this should be what a journal is — thoughts without the pressure of pleasing an audience. I also think: What is the point? LJ won't last forever and then everything will be gone. Yet this site just keeps chugging along.
Anyway, I guess random thoughts time.
--Covid. Yeah. That is a biggie. Almost a whole year has gone by and we are no closer to stopping it. Seriously, what has happened to 2021?? I miss the simpler times, without the fear of death and people yelling at us at work. It seriously takes a special kind of asshole to yell at librarians. Had someone come in yesterday wanting to know why it was taking so long to order his ILL book (a book we had to get from another library system). I told him it could take awhile to find a copy because we have to go through the available libraries one by one. It blew his mind that we can't just send out 30 requests. Because, Sir, then we could end up with 30 books we have to mail back. He took off his mask, demanded we cancel the request, and stormed out. I declined writing up a Building Log entry because I really doubt he will return.
--We have a Wifi upgrade happening next Wednesday at the library and we are going to be closed to the public that day — only serving people through our drive-thru window. We are so. Fucking. Excited. We can get shit done! eeeee!
( Read more...Collapse )Anyone I know still here?
I have mainly been using Facebook for my fandom needs, which aren't all that much....until I saw Endgame 3 times and my head exploded.
Nothing too exiting going on for me.
*Goes back to lurking.
Not been very chatty on LJ, so I probably won't be very chatty here (on DW), but who knows? :)
Feel free to add me in either place. Same username on both.
I participated in NaNoWriMo once again. And this time I won :D First time in quite awhile I had nothing going on and I had some good write ins where we spent like 2-3 hours in near silence just writing. It was awesome. And, I made the paper:
http://www.chronline.com/life/the-world-needs-your-novel-lewis-county-writers-get-to/article_237a8220-ae0b-11e6-bab8-935ccee2ddb9.html
My novel is about two bull riders who fall in love.
I saw an awesome movie a few nights ago. It is called Hell or High Water. It stars Chris Pine and Jeff Bridges. Those two are awesome. It reminds me a bit of True Detective, in that the setting is almost like a character, and that you start to cheer a bit for the bad guys. The dialogue is fantastic and lots of fun.
....Then the election went down and my word count is slipping. So hard to concentrate. I have a small handful of celebrities that I follow on Youtube and Facebook. This whole shitstorm has reminded me why I loved them in the first place. They all started out begging people to do the right thing with voting. Then the shocked disbelief when our nightmares came true. They lashed out. And then finally they apologized and and are ready to forgive and move on.
I don't know the general feelings of my flist, since I haven't been on here in a week or so. I do think we need anger, but put that anger to a good use. Don't attack people. I don't want US to become like THEM.
Enough political shit for now, moving on....
Wednesday I saw Dr. Strange, and Thursday I saw Hacksaw Ridge. I originally wanted to see them back to back, but I couldn't get the time off work Wednesday to do both. There will be some spoilers in my reviews, but not a ton.
( Dr. StrangeCollapse )
( Hacksaw RidgeCollapse )
I just lost an hour of my life trying to find someone past 3 steps lol. I failed.
I went with my brother, who was visiting for the month from Japan, with his wife, and their 3-year old, Kenji.
I bought an Elephant Ear to share around. After Jeff ate half of it, he decided to buy one of his own. Not that I could have finished my own, though. Too much sugar!
Then we went on a few kid rides. Kenji was finally tall enough to go on some rides, and he seemed to enjoy them :D
Only had time for a few, so I could get to the concert on time. I bought a bloomin' onion on the way - I swear, I go to the fair mainly to eat lol.
There was a little section waaay in the back that had some shade, so I settled in there and chowed down. Blake was a bit late to start, which gave me time to finish my food without getting grease prints all over my camera.
The sound was great and he played some songs from his first album that I loved. I recorded a little with my camera, but I couldn't zoom all the way in because I had a hard time keeping the focus on him...every small twitch make the picture dance, even my heartbeat lol.
It cooled off a little and I was able to brave the sun to stand closer, just in time for him to do his cover She Will Be Loved/With or With out you. He didn't sound near as good as he did on tour when he did that song a lot, but I loved seeing the him build the song with his loop pedals. For those not familiar, he is a one person band. Just him and a guitar, and loop pedals where he can make different sounds to 'build' the background music for the song. He is also an awesome beat boxer.
So after that song, I was pretty much done. Hot, sweaty, headache, etc. Wish I could have lasted for more of the concert, but at that moment, I wanted a cold shower more lol.
I managed to buy a bag of cotton candy on my way out :)
I always think of LJ as the place to squee about fandom and everything else is just a bonus. But I have been so out of the loop as far as fannish things go that I really don't know what to do with myself here. So I guess I will just bullet point things and do a ramble!post.
*I got a final Jeopardy question/answer right. The clue was something like: "A famous author wrote about this narrator having an old war injury in the shoulder. xxx years later, in another book the injury was in his leg." Two of the contestants guessed Sherlock, while the other, correctly, guessed Watson :)
* Been introducing my Aunt to the Marvel Universe. I showed her Iron Man a month ago - she has a huge crush on RDJ and made me change the wallpaper on her computer to a picture of him as Iron Man hahaha. And I just showed her Captain America today. Next up will be Thor, Iron Man 2, then Avengers. Think I will skip Hulk, since it didn't add much. I loved Norton as Hulk, but now I have gotten so used to Mark Ruffalo that I just can't go back to it.
* My brother and his family is coming up July 29th from Japan. They will stay a month. Their kid is 3, but is a bit delayed due to early health issues. He gets frustrated easily because he has yet to start talking and just recently learned to walk. I am not a kid person at all.
* My cat, Ki, is in bad shape. She is 17 and having issues walking. I hope it is just the colder weather effecting her joints. But she has been throwing up every day almost - mainly cat food. She doesn't chew her food, so I think she just eats too fast a lot of the time. She also started peeing outside of the box, so we got her a lower one that she thankfully now uses. But she has pooped a few times in the other room. And to complicate things, our annoying little house dog always is trying to jump on her. Ki can normally hold her own when she feels good, but when she is just trying to slink away, I don't want a dog jumping at her.
* On a funny note, the dog can be sound asleep with me calling her name and totally ignoring me. But I can say 'Hi Ki' in a normal tone and the dog jumps up and looks all over the place for the cat. She falls for this all the time.
* I have to go to the dentist three times to get two crowns and a filling done. An expensive lesson to not wait two years between dentist visits.
* This is the most I have written on anything in a long time. I miss writing. But I also like playing on my iPad lol. I have been gathering ideas for NaNoWriMo, but I am so rusty that I don't expect it to go well.
* I just had the best month ever in June on my Etsy shop. *dances* Already made more than all of last year. http://beaderville.etsy.com
* Just started watching Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. The kid is freaking amazing. He hasn't really done much, but he is an actor to watch out for. He reminds me a bit of Elijah Wood
* Speaking of movies, I saw Free State of Jones last week. I really loved it! It it best as a Matthew Mcconaughey movie. So if you really like him, ignore all the bad reviews and go see it! MM doesn't disappoint.
*sigh* Probably just means I need to restart my computer :-/
Isn't it funny how one thing leads to another leads to another and leads to something awesome?
So, I am too lazy to change the TV channel (mainly because I am on my iPad and not really watching the TV anyway) and Anger Management was on. Never watched it before because Charlie Sheen bugs me. But I noticed Michael Arden. I didn't know he was on the show. Took me a moment to recognize him.
Huge fan of his from Bare: a Pop Opera (off Broadway musical) and I see him show up from time to time in things. I checked out his IMDB page, then read some comments. Found a thread on Bare and a discussion about how to 'obtain' copies. Then a reminder of the special 2 disc 1 DVD album that was put together. Sadly not with the original cast. I went to the homepage for the album, even though I already own it, just to see if it was still around. The vids that I watched over and over again weren't working, so I went to Youtube for nostalgia sake and looked then up. Watched a bunch.... and found something awesome XD
If you are a fan of the cast and the trailer made you squee, definitely try to see it while it is still in the theaters. Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy, and Andrew Scott are among my favorite actors and they were amazing here. Louise Brealey (Molly from Sherlock) made a brief appearance as well as Mark Gatiss.
There were only three other people in the theater with me (I did go at 4:00 on a Monday), which kept my giggle attack in check. No, the movie wasn't all that funny, but I had some nervous energy happening toward the middle lol.
Anyone else participating this year?

30: Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!
I've written 5000+ words on an Adam/Blake fic. It kinda sucks, but it feels good to be writing again!
Nothing too exciting going on here. Same, same. More TV DVRing than I know what to do with....11 hours recorded on Tuesday ack!
I saw The Martian last week. Very good! Definitely going to buy it when it comes out. Next, I want to see The Walk. Looks amazing :)
Odd, but that totally makes it worth the money for me :D
So I had an Avengers dream last night. Kinda. It was pre-Iron Man. Me and another girl were messengers in this underground stone cavern. Thousands of people lived down there and it was a really rough 'neighborhood'. Tony Stark was undercover (for lack of a better word) and he was rooming with this young curly haired man called Jarvis.
We delivered letters and government stuff a lot to them. One time we were found out and the package we were delivering was almost taken. Lots of running and hiding and taking oddly placed elevators. Sometime later, Jarvis had been killed. Tony's face when we made the next delivery was heartbreaking :(
I woke up shortly after that. In the dream, my character didn't think there was a relationship going on - too much almost dying to have time to analyze my clients, but when I woke up - wow.
I don't read Tony fic. I might have skimmed a summary a month ago or so about Jarvis being Tony's secret lover, but I want to ship this! Might have to ask on avengers_request if I can't shake this.

I would add a few more pics, but I can't seem to get them to show up right side up here. Anyone know? I saved them right side up in a photo editor, and I also right clicked on the picture and rotated it that way...nothing helped.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm going to really miss Battle Creek. It was my favorite new show :( It ended well, though, I think. I swear they had two different endings in mind depending on if they got picked up for another season.
So many cool and different shows get cancelled before they can find an audience. It is really depressing. My favorite show, Night Shift, barely made it to renewal. I felt like a nervous wreck as I waited for the news.
How did everyone else's shows do?
Flew from Seattle early early Thursday morning to San Francisco to catch a flight 2 hours later to Atlanta. The flight was delayed for 4 hours because of a cracked handle, the type you use as a grip, on the emergency door. It wasn't noticed until after the safety check and we were all on board. We did get free Direct TV for the flight and a 50 dollar voucher for another flight. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy and Edge of Tomorrow (it finished just as we landed).
Went the the Atlanta Zoo today and the World of Coke Museum. Tomorrow, we are driving to Florida. Wheee!
Surrounded by a group of 10 people and we are counting down the last 30 minutes until NaNoWriMo starts, so why not ignore everyone and finally do a (long overdue) LJ post? :D :D
Work-wise, I have survived the most stressful week in 10 years, and things are finally calming down. We are at full staff and my hours are back to normal. I am sad that I am not making as much money, but I love not working on Saturdays any more and that I have more time to write and do other things.
I've still been reading your posts, though I don't comment too much lately.
I am going on a big trip in the middle of the month (which is going to screw with my NaNo writing, as I am only taking along a mini iPad). I am taking the train to Seattle where I will meet with Michelle, then flying to Georgia where a group of us will gather and drive to Florida (Disney and Universal), then the train to New York (Book of Mormon and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade). And a bunch of other stuff in between :)
And now we are watching someone get arrested outside the building.
I had been looking forward to this movie for over a year, back when I first heard Matt Bomer would be in it. With all the interviews I had been seeing everywhere for it lately and the hype, I was worried I had my expectations set too high....
...I actually don't have any complaints. Wonderful acting all around. We really got to know the core group of people, so that the blows to the characters hurt all the more.
Okay, my only complaint was that the movie didn't go a little further timeline-wise. I LOVED Ned and Felix, but the movie slowed to a stop ( cut for spoilerCollapse ).
Unfortunately, Mom was also interested in seeing it. That was a mistake lol. She made it to minute 30 before she made me turn it off. Which was a relief! It was so uncomfortable watching with her and I knew the movie would turn me into a sobbing mess. But if she had only watched for 30 more seconds, things calmed down (aka, no more smut scenes lol). But this allowed me to curl up with my cat and sniffle all I wanted while watching.
Hard movie to watch, but get a hold of it if you can!
It's been almost a year and a half since I have been working extra hours at the library. Yay money, but I am looking forward to getting things back to normal (NEXT MONTH YAY). My hours have been all over the place, and I am not a morning person at all. So by night time, which is normally when I am most productive, I just want to zone out and play some POGO games before bed.
Aside from Sherlock, there aren't many shows I feel like squeeing for while watching. Love Tomorrow People, which got cancelled (booo!). Chicago Fire has been getting really good. The Following was really intense. Still enjoying all my reality shows.
Newest actor I have been all eeee over is Matthew Mcconaughey. Working my way through his IMDB page. Mud was fantastic :)
...and this was the best disaster movie ever!
So much wrong, though. So much.
Song: Things You've Never Done by Passenger
Clips: Third Star and Fortysomething
Summary: Everyone has Regrets.
Thanks: To
It was very dark and lots of trying to avoid getting arrested.
I remember thinking it was a decent enough movie, but would probably get slammed by critics.
Then I started watching it again, though I doubt it started the same way as the first time. Hardly felt like the same movie.
Was weird and cool and I didn't want to get out of bed :(
I think it learned a lesson from The Voice (and the shit storm of last season) that having lovable judges is one of the keys to success.
For lack of any an original character, I decided to be Sherlock ;) As we were partnering up to get to know each other, Holly, our organizer, slipped me a note that my services were being hired to solve a crime. A spur of the moment thing that I totally wasn't prepared for lol
We got in a group circle and Holly, my partner and also our therapist for 'Group Therapy', started us off. We each had to introduce our partner to everyone else. While people did the Name, Age, profession list, I kinda slammed my partner, calling her a "middle-aged woman whose competitive streak prompted her to cheat her way through college" and "whose career is on a decline and that I wouldn't trust her to give an accurate diagnosis of any of us". Being an ass was a bit of fun :D
Then we took turns answering questions, in character, while I took notes of who could have been capable of murder. I ended up taking notes on everyone, including the person next to me who kept trying to look at my notes.
So by the end, I went around the table, saying how each person had motive or a reason to kill, but dismissed them all. Holly was the last. She kept having to break character during the meeting, so I diagnosed her with multiple personality disorder, and that she asked more questions than she answered, plus she made everyone drink tea for some odd reason. She wasn't even trying to be a suspect lol.
I hate improv and had reservations about being Sherlock, because my brain doesn't work that way, but this was loads of fun. I had a clicky pen and I kept clicking the Morse Code for S.O.S., but not one seemed to notice my distress lol.
I did do a little writing, but never finished anything to post.
However, I did start doing some Music Videos:
In Darkness for BBC Sherlock
and
Last Night on Earth for Third Star
I also have two more vids that are pretty much done, but they are on the other laptop and I am not atm lol. I still have a bunch of stuff I need to transfer over from there as well, but I haven't missed it too much except the vidding things.
It is for the MFC series of ink shown here:
http://www.amazon.com/12-Pack-Compatible-Cartridges-Brother-5460CN/dp/B001J2P9MM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388977935&sr=8-1&keywords=brother+mfc+ink
I got a new printer that sadly doesn't take ink that is that cheap *cries* and I want this to find a good home rather than tossing it.
Only need a few bucks to cover shipping.
I have a nasty cold and someone tried to steal nearly 500 dollars from my bank account through my paypal.
However, new Sherlock *Squee*! I will make a separate post on that.
I hardly bother with resolutions, because things normally go okay enough that I don't feel I need major change, but this year, I have two:
1) Get back into writing. NaNo has made me realize how much I miss it and I need to find time for both creative writing as well as my crafts.
2) Lose 10 pounds. 10 pounds can make all the difference. A few years ago, I got real active with exercising a little every day, and only slightly changing my diet (as in, stop overeating). I only weigh 130 now, but it all settles on my thighs. Losing it should be fairly easy once I get back into the habit.
...and I was all prepared to start in on #2, but it is that time of the month, plus I am sick. *sigh* Maybe tomorrow. I have a feeling that is going to end up being my motto.
Hobbit time!
Minor spoilers, but will put behind a cut.
( clickie clickieCollapse )
I got a new laptop a few days ago. I miss being able to go to the Dell website and customizing everything about a laptop. It probably all works out about the same by choosing a different model, but the customizing was fun!
Since I am a bit low on cash, I just picked up the most basic one (about 400 bucks). My last one was about a $1k computer and I can really tell the difference in how it performs. My old one was hanging up on pages and not playing videos very well. Once I get everything moved over here, I am going to start clearing off all the crap from it which should hopefully speed it up and get it working good again. It also had battery problems and wouldn't stay charged for more than 30 minutes.
This one has a 9 key number pad on the right, which I love. But all the keys are super flat, so I keep missing letters. And I am getting this weird issue when I open Firefox and the screen that opens is all blurry and I can't do anything with it but close and try again. The old laptop had similar issues, but it would open either a blue or a green screen and not load. I restarted this one and I think the issue is fine *shrugs*
Keyboard also doesn't have a bump in the back to allow air to circulate underneath and to elevate the keyboard. Hurts a little to type for a long time. Need to track down something for that.
Up next Hobbit review, and Sherlock Minisode review. Going to post this now while it is still Christmas lol
Man of Steel is the worst movie I have seen this year. I would rather stare at a blank TV screen for 2 hours than watch this again. Hate hate hate!

Sorry I haven't been around much! I'm behind about 300 or so LJ entries. I keep starting at like Skip-300, but can't seem to get to sooner than that. And when I see an entry that I want to comment on, it is already 5-10 days 'old' and it seems strange to comment on it.
Quite a few of you are having some rough times, so *huggles* all around, for what it's worth.
I'm doing NaNoWriMo, and doing quite badly at it. Hoping to get at least 30K by the end of the month. I had a good day of writing today, but I think that is only because I finally got to the smut scene! If only I was one of those authors who could write 10,000 word smut scenes. Then I would be all set!
If you guys haven't seen this yet, go grab it from iTunes!
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/movie/little-favour/id727903185
I had real low expectations due to all the bad publicity and the bad reviews I had been hearing. But...I actually enjoyed it. The acting all around was great. If you are seeing it for Benedict, you should be happy. The movie did seem a bit long, but it had a consistent pace, so I am not sure where it could have been shaved down.
I'm sad it didn't do better in the theater. I think all the bad reviews kept people away. This isn't an action movie. There isn't going to be a lot of explosions and running about.
I really enjoyed the beginning of it, which showed briefly how technology has changed over the years.
I wasn't all that familiar with Wikileaks so I felt a little lost at times, but explaining things would have slowed it down further. And I think to people who are really familiar with what went down with Wikileaks might be a little bored already.
( Cut for some minor spoilersCollapse )
--I still owe an update with tons of pictures from my trip to California/Nerd HQ. Hopefully I can get to that eventually. The thought of uploading tons of pictures, then trying to remember all the awesome stuff that happened makes my head hurt.
--NaNoWriMo is just around the corner!! YAY! Now that I have decided to turn my story into an AU, I think the writing will be much easier. I haven't written much lately, but I can feel the bug coming back as I am plotting.
--I have this week off work! I have been working extra hours since February, and things are finally calming down and getting back to normal. Though there won't be too much resting during this week:
--Tuesday I head to Seattle to spend a few days with Michelle. Going to a Jay Brannan concert that night
--Wednesday while in Seattle I am seeing Fifth Estate since it isn't playing here. I know it has bad reviews, but I have heard good things about BC's acting.
--Thursday afternoon I will be back home, then at 10pm I head onto town to prepare for the NaNoWriMo kickoff party that starts right at Midnight. I plan to stay a few hours at least and hopefully get a good start on novel.
--Friday back into town to take advantage of discounted Halloween candy and to visit a craft Bazaar.
And that is my week.
--Speaking of Craft Bazaar, I have a bunch of my bracelets and beaded flowers for sale there. It is only a 2 day event. Fingers crossed that I can get rid of a few things! There is also this new bead store in town that rents out shelves for 10 bucks a month. I rented one and have a couple things there. Will bring more of what doesn't sell at the Bazaar next week. The last two times I was in there, I was there for over an hour talking to the lady who runs it. She is really neat. Used to be a truck driver and loves wire-work.
--And speaking of crafting, I have just figured out how to make hardbacked journals. Time consuming, but fun. I need to work on getting my stitching tighter, though.
--If anyone wants to see some of my stuff, I have my bracelets, beaded flowers, and Mini notebooks (not the hardbacks yet), over here
--I am loving Sleepy Hallow. I think it is my favorite new show. Supernatural and White Collar are my two other favorites that are currently airing. And I am anxiously awaiting the return of Sherlock.
