Three years...time keeps ticking

Well...three years since my last post. And...I guess many updates to be had.

--Yesterday, former president Trump was almost assassinated. As much as I hate him, I think his death would have started something much worse for our country. Plus, it would be weird having a sane Republican (oxymoron?) running for president, and much more dangerous.

--I no longer work at the library. We got a new manager who took some weird dislike to me and ended up bullying me for a year and reporting me to HR for every little thing she thought was wrong. Long story short, after 19.5 years of working for the library, she got me fired. Kinda a relief, actually. I was having panic attacks and getting severe depression. I don't miss those days at all! I do miss the books. Been over a year and I still can't be bothered to read a book again. So the worst thing, is she killed my enjoyment of books.

--Now I am working at Walmart. Actually, for over a year now. I work in the Online Grocery Pickup department. I fucking love it. Pay is meh compared to the library, but my coworkers are amazing and I am getting in shape kinda. Soooo muuuuch walking!

--I got a new car. New as in only 20 miles on it. I got it a couple months before I left the library. Which in hindsight was a horrible idea because at the time I KNEW the job was going down the toilet. But, in a way, I think the new car kept me from driving my older, crappier one off a bridge, so there is that.

--Katie, my cat, is on Prednisone. That has kept her from licking sores on her back. Not the best for her, but it works.

--Dad was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's. He doesn't have much of a tremor, but is having some coordination issues. Now to just get him into a doctor and hopefully they can find a way to manage his symptoms.

Ummm...I think that is mostly it.

See ya in a few years!

Time for my Biennial Delurking

Seems like I can only manage a post every other year.

Not that anyone is around to read this. But I guess this should be what a journal is — thoughts without the pressure of pleasing an audience. I also think: What is the point? LJ won't last forever and then everything will be gone. Yet this site just keeps chugging along.

Anyway, I guess random thoughts time.

--Covid. Yeah. That is a biggie. Almost a whole year has gone by and we are no closer to stopping it. Seriously, what has happened to 2021?? I miss the simpler times, without the fear of death and people yelling at us at work. It seriously takes a special kind of asshole to yell at librarians. Had someone come in yesterday wanting to know why it was taking so long to order his ILL book (a book we had to get from another library system). I told him it could take awhile to find a copy because we have to go through the available libraries one by one. It blew his mind that we can't just send out 30 requests. Because, Sir, then we could end up with 30 books we have to mail back. He took off his mask, demanded we cancel the request, and stormed out. I declined writing up a Building Log entry because I really doubt he will return.

--We have a Wifi upgrade happening next Wednesday at the library and we are going to be closed to the public that day — only serving people through our drive-thru window. We are so. Fucking. Excited. We can get shit done! eeeee!

--Mom passed away. In February. Got sick last November and went downhill pretty fast. Refused to go to the hospital until it was pretty much too late and her Kidneys were shutting down. She had always hated how difficult her own mother was, about going to see doctors. And then she turned around and did the same damn thing.

--So many cleaning projects going on. The house is one big clutter.

--I am hosting a Resin Party in a few weeks here, so better get to cleaning! 3 or 4 of my coworkers will be coming over. It will be nice to just goof around.

--NaNo is coming up! I took a week off work. I did that last year and managed to finish 50k words in 11 days! Would have been 9 days, but I finished the story at 40k words and needed to insert some extra scenes. It was fun to spend the rest of the year editing, though hard to do word sprints when I kept ending up with negative words written!

--Movies — Recently saw Dear Evan Hansen. Uugh, what a mess of a movie. The casting was all wrong. The director or whoever was in charge of how things worked had no business in working with a musical. The songs were so awkward. They weren't performances. Here, let me stand up from the dinner table and sing. At. You. While you watch me with an awkward little smile. Sincerely, Me was amazing and the highlight before everything started to go to shit. I did almost die from embarrassment for Evan, so I guess something worked. The angst with his social anxiety hit the mark pretty well, but lacked a good transition. Jared was great and I loved the changes to his character, but he was mostly absent in the second half :(. Tick, Tick, Boom is coming out next month and from the trailer, it looks like it should be fantastic. EXCITED!

Um...I got a new cat last year, right before I started back to work. She is a sweetie with a naughty personality, so a perfect match for me. She is a couple-year-old Tortie who likes to lick the skin off her back. Got her on a grain free food, which helps, but I think she also has a flea allergy, so if I am late with her flea treatments, then she spends a week licking herself bloody. *sigh*

And...I think that is mostly it?

See you all again in 2023, if the world hasn't imploded by then!

(I really would like to post regularly again. Facebook is fine and all, but it is strange getting too deep when there are so many people who know me there.)

Sherlock 4.2 and 4.3 Review

Slowly working on processing things :)

Ep 2 was waaaay better than the first episode and I feel it was almost 'back to form.' I really like how they worked in Mary, having John hallucinate her. I was dreading seeing her pop up when I heard she would be in the episode.

The main thing I got out of it was PRETTY! Something about the way it was shot seemed to highlight everyone's best qualities. Scruffy Sherlock was a bit odd, but I kept getting distracted by his eyes :D
Other:
--Mrs. Hudson stole the show. Loved how she tricked John into agreeing to help Sherlock, then opened her trunk.
--Sherlock telling Mycroft to Fuck Off via tracking
--Angst! Loved John going all RAWR at Sherlock and finally venting some. And him eventually saving Sherlock.

The bad:
--I loathed the bad guy. I've seen him around in things and he just...uugh. I can't stand the actor. This was the only thing preventing me from fully enjoying the episode.
I really loved this one. I watched it again a few days later and I enjoyed it even more. The emotional bits still struck a chord.

I consider this episode a character study. When done well, I love them. Plus this hit all my angst buttons XD

Guess I will get the bad out of the way first:
--Mycroft's reaction to having to shoot someone. WTF was that? I don't doubt that he has never killed someone with his own hands before. I also don't doubt that, if pushed far enough, he would break down. But he is The British Government! He would at least attempt to do what needs to be done, even if he couldn't bring himself to pull the trigger.
--And I had a hard time believing that Euros was the therapist. She was so far 'out there' in her mind that I don't see how she could have pulled it off. Very cool idea, just needed a better execution.
--Moriarty still being dead. But, if you watched to the end, they are still teasing that he is alive. I do think that this episode would be way too crowded with yet another story line going on, Moriarty really needs his own episode, If he comes back.

The good:
--The rest of it :P
--Everyone acted the hell out of their scenes. From all three of them yelling NO to Sherlock calling Molly...all of it.
--Redbeard! OMG! I didn't see that coming. It hit me harder the second time I watched it.
--Mary's voice over at the end. It was a great palate cleanser. Almost felt like a reset button - allowing the show, if it continues (damn it seemed so final), to have some normal case episodes

I really want to watch it a third time, but my DVR is almost full and I can't get behind :(
And this is probably in my top 3 favorite episodes. Reichenbach, Scandal, and Sign of the Three are my previous favorites. Not sure where this one falls in there, though

Sherlock 4.1 review

I am of two minds here. I liked the episode quite a bit while watching, but after it was over, I feel a bit meh toward the episode. It was fun enough, and angsty, I do love the angst, but...We only get three of these. It feels like this episode is going to majorly effect the other two.

Now, I enjoy Mary. I think she is an interesting character that has grown on me a lot. Her death feels like it should be something for the end of the season. So unless we get a nice long time gap for ep 2, Sherlock and John are going to be at odds for the rest of the season. I am not a huge Johnlock shipper (gasp), but a lot of the fun of the series is THEM. The whole episode fucks with the THEM...if that makes sense?

Things I did enjoy:
*Sherlock swearing to protect Mary. It was kinda....sweet lol. But he said it so often he jinxed it.
*The aquarium location. I set a fic there a loooong time ago and had an OMG moment.
*Sherlock once again forgetting Lestrade's name. It was brief, but the humor was nice.
*John's 'fling'. A lot will disagree with me, but I found it a nice personal moment with him, and his touch of regret at turning her down. BUT I think it would have worked much better if Mary hadn't died. Having the guilt of almost cheating on her on top of her death is a bit much.
*I liked the conversations with Mycroft. We got some nice dialogue. And did I hear a Sherrinford mention?
*The build up and tension throughout the ep was nice, but I stumbled across a spoiler just as I started to watch it, so I knew what it was building to.
*John being the one to think of a simple tracker on the memory stick to trace Mary.

Things that annoyed me:
*The Six Thatchers mystery was just an excuse for the Spy!Mary stuff. It would have been better to have lengthened it and cut out some of the Mary backstory. I want more casework.
*Nothing felt very clever. Sherlock just didn't impress me with anything.
*John's hair. I like the extra length to it, but it is so much lighter that it is looking grey in the light. Ages him.
*Is John staying with Molly? I just have a feeling that if/when John finally moves back to the flat, the baby will stay with Molly and will conveniently be forgotten.

I didn't really hate anything. Not yet. Will see what carries over into ep 2.

According to IMDB, Andrew Scott will be in ep 3. Not sure if flashbacks or in person, but Pleeeeeeaaase! I want Moriarty to be alive. No way he killed himself on that rooftop!

I hate hate hate, that I can only go back about 3 weeks on my flist, even with skipping the communities. Is there any way to view more? I haven't been on in a month and I am missing posts :(

I participated in NaNoWriMo once again. And this time I won :D First time in quite awhile I had nothing going on and I had some good write ins where we spent like 2-3 hours in near silence just writing. It was awesome. And, I made the paper:
http://www.chronline.com/life/the-world-needs-your-novel-lewis-county-writers-get-to/article_237a8220-ae0b-11e6-bab8-935ccee2ddb9.html

My novel is about two bull riders who fall in love.

I saw an awesome movie a few nights ago. It is called Hell or High Water. It stars Chris Pine and Jeff Bridges. Those two are awesome. It reminds me a bit of True Detective, in that the setting is almost like a character, and that you start to cheer a bit for the bad guys. The dialogue is fantastic and lots of fun.

Nano, elections, Dr. Strange, and Hacksaw Ridge

Doing NaNoWriMo this year, and for once in what feels like a long time, I had no vacations or anything else to mess with my momentum. It is about two bull riders who eventually fall in love. Juuuust starting to get to the good stuff....

....Then the election went down and my word count is slipping. So hard to concentrate. I have a small handful of celebrities that I follow on Youtube and Facebook. This whole shitstorm has reminded me why I loved them in the first place. They all started out begging people to do the right thing with voting. Then the shocked disbelief when our nightmares came true. They lashed out. And then finally they apologized and and are ready to forgive and move on.

I don't know the general feelings of my flist, since I haven't been on here in a week or so. I do think we need anger, but put that anger to a good use. Don't attack people. I don't want US to become like THEM.

Enough political shit for now, moving on....

Wednesday I saw Dr. Strange, and Thursday I saw Hacksaw Ridge. I originally wanted to see them back to back, but I couldn't get the time off work Wednesday to do both. There will be some spoilers in my reviews, but not a ton.

I had been looking forward to seeing Dr. Strange for a while because, duh, Cumberbatch! I went to see the 3D version because that was the one showing at the time I was free, at 3pm. There was only 1 other person in the theater and he laughed at all the right places, so that was good lol.

I am not a huge fan of 3D movies. Avatar and My Bloody Valentine were the only two I have seen that were freaking amazing in 3D. Not sure if it is just me, but the backgrounds tend to be unfocused and blurry. I can't see expressions. I get distracted by a tree or something that passes in front of people because of the 3D effect. Special effects are amazing and they looked really cool. And I had a weird reflection with my 3D glasses. I had to push my hair around to block out a little light creeping in on the sides so I wouldn't have to see myself. It was weird.

Okay, on to the movie.
The acting was awesome. The story/plot....left a lot to be desired. I talked to a coworker and we both agreed that it felt like it was made for the fans only, unlike the other Marvel movies where you can jump on from any point and still follow things okay.

The visuals felt like a rip off of Inception (I loved that movie), and what really annoyed me was that there was no rhyme or reason for why things looked like that. Why does creating a third dimension look like that? It seems like a whole lot of work just to make the audience go "ooooohhh pretty". And it felt like the characters were constantly having to explain things to keep the audience from getting confused.

The 'training' montage didn't feel complete. We didn't see him learn enough to save his ass. This would have been a good opportunity to let the audience in on a few things.

I did have a few moments that I loved. The Groundhog Day scene. And the exchange that went something like this:
"Mr...?"
"Doctor."
"Mr. Doctor?"
"Strange."
"Yes, that is quite strange."

And yes, daasgrrl, Cumberbatch was very nice to look at. And his accent wasn't too distracting :)

So...yeah. I do plan to see this again when it comes out. It will probably be much better the second time around.

Hacksaw Ridge wasn't really on my radar until I caught Andrew Garfield on James Corden and saw a clip of the movie. I was fascinated and drawn in by that and the trailer. So I went at 5pm Thursday to see it. Decent crowd. Maybe 20 people.

I picked a seat off to the side. Two guys came in, a father in his 70s and a son in his 30s. They checked to make sure I could see before they sat down and we briefly chatted. I listened to them talking and joking a little through the trailers. Not in an annoying way, but they were entertaining.

The movie was amazing and I liked it better than Dr. Strange. The cast blew me away. The expressions....I knew what everyone was feeling by expression alone. Hugo Weaving (I didn't know he was in this!) was great. I really don't want to give any spoilers. Even after watching the trailer a few times, it didn't give key scenes away, like so many others do.

I didn't look up anything about the movie before I saw it aside from the trailer. I didn't want to be spoiled by who lived or died, and I encourage those of you who might go see it to do the same. This is based on actual events.

It is very violent when it gets to the war scenes. And I did get a little tired of seeing bullets go straight through heads that were wearing helmets. There was also tons of gore. More than even I was expecting, but it didn't cheapen the experience for me.

There were three scenes that scared the crap out of me. One was someone peering out of a foxhole and coming face to face with the enemy. And another was a quiet scene where someone is trying to be real quiet and all of a sudden a gunshot went off. Felt like I had been shot for a moment. uugh.

There were a couple people a few rows in front of me with the most annoying laugh ever. Or at least one of them did. She sounded like a smoker who had no control over her laughter, and was a touch senile. Thank god this wasn't a comedy! It did have some nice humorous bits to break up the doom and gloom.

At the end, there are some interviews with survivors and it was a perfect way to end things.

After, the father and son stood up. The father commented on how real everything was and they asked me how I survived. Told them barely and that the movie was really good. The son said the only thing the movie was missing was Brad Pitt in a tank and I commented on how it was a shame and a missed opportunity. He cracked up. We wished each other good evenings and the end.

I really want to see this again, but I already spent too much of my extra money on comfort chocolate after the election.

Uugh - All staff training day

Had All Staff Training Day today, where all 300+ of us gather (27 branch library system).

So 3 of us were going to carpool since we live close together. Was going to be 4, but one is on Pregnancy leave starting today (her due date got bumped closer). She was bummed to miss it.

On my drive in to the library parking lot - the meeting place - I passed a large house fire. Two fire trucks and at least 5 cops, and the ambulance driver who lives on that street was running to his van. So that was a depressing start.

As I waited in the lot for my two coworkers to show up, I got a text from another one, H. She was bowing out of it this year because she has an inner ear disease that loud sounds irritate her and her noise canceling headphones don't work well for large groups and microphones. And she was miserable last year. So she wasn't feeling up to going.

5 minutes after that, I got a call from another coworker, who was going to ride with us, saying that there was an accident on her road. As she tried to go around it, she misjudged and went in the ditch and had to be towed out. So she was out.

M showed up, after spilling coffee all over herself and her car, so we got on the road. It was only 15 minutes away from work, instead of the usual 45 minutes.

Found 2 other coworkers. One was recovering from strep. But she brought a face mask and had fun putting it on.

Said hi to a bunch of people I only talk to on the phone and see once or twice a year.

One of my other coworkers, C, wasn't there yet. His car had broken down a few weeks ago and he had been getting rides from people into work. He had told everyone he was okay for a ride. So we all placed bets on when he would arrive. I had been texting with H, and she got in on the bet as well. Breakfast started at 7:30 and the actual speakers started at 8:30.

Our first speaker was the remaining guy on the Unshelved team. The duo had spoken twice before at All Staff Day and I love them. This guy solo was hilarious as well and a great start to our day (in previous years we have gotten some crappy speakers and I always write in the evaluation to bring back Unshelved). And I won a signed book :D Normally they have ones for sale, but the change of venue this year screwed things up I think. Sad I wasn't able to purchase the books that had been released since I last saw them.

Still no C.

Texted more with H and she said she had texted C and he said he was there. He likes to joke a lot, so we just called him a liar. Oh, and he lives less than 2 miles away. Tsk!

We got to pick three 'sessions' to attend. I picked Circulation Team Discussion, Independent Publishing, and Podcasting for my 3. I will mini review them at the end.

Spotted C finally! as I was going to my first session. He was in the hallway talking to someone. I pointed at him as I hurried past and he called after me "Told you I was here!" I rolled my eyes and texted H that C finally showed up.

After my first session, we let out a little early, and C was in the same spot, finishing up talking to someone else. So I queued up to talk to him. We BSed a little before I finally got him to admit why he was late:
He had just gotten the news that a teaching job he had applied to a few days ago told him he got the position. He starts immediately.

We all knew he was applying and that he would leave us eventually, but not this soon :( He will be in tomorrow and then try to help out some over the next few weeks, but he isn't required to give a 2 week notice.

He is/was the Children's librarian and is one of our favorites. When he told V, the YS librarian, she threw a granola bar at him.

So to sum up the staffing situation here:
New Manager starts October.
J out on Maternity leave
C leaving us.
H is interviewing tomorrow for a position closer to home. If she gets it I think I will murder her.
The other C (that I have talked about before) is a slacker and he better step up and actually do things to help.
V is recovering from strep throat. She is doing better. And she is also in charge until the new manager starts.
The third C was the one with the car in the ditch. Hopefully it is driveable.
And then M and Me, the two Aides.

So down 3 out of 9, and one only counts as half a person.

Okay, so the sessions, for anyone still reading lol:

Circ Discussion - about 30 of us sat in a circle and....discussed things. I don't feel like this accomplished much, except bringing to light how we all do things differently that we should be doing the same. The one person in charge of the group was just a regular staff person and not someone who would be able to give official answers for the many questions we had. So that was a bit of a wash.

Then we had lunch. Important to note only because people who brought their own lunches weren't allowed to eat with the others for 'liability' reasons. And that is my only complaint about the new venue. Because of that, I just ate quickly in my car, then rejoined everyone to chat about things. I am a picky eater, so it is just easier to pack my own lunch. Everything else about the venue was amazing, though. We had comfy chairs instead of the metal folding ones!!

Then I went to Indie Publishing. It was fun, but there were 5 people answering the same questions. Some of them were very long-winded, so it took ages to do just one question. I got bored toward the end.

Podcasting was cool. I don't do much podcasting, so it was neat to hear of all the different subjects there were. I wish I had more down time to be able to listen to stuff, so I could check things out.

All in all it was a good time. Better than most due to Unshelved being there :)

So depressed about C though :'(

Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon

Maybe I am slow to the party. But I just learned that I can type any actors name into Google, followed by the words Bacon Number, and it will tell me how many steps that actor is away from Kevin Bacon.

I just lost an hour of my life trying to find someone past 3 steps lol. I failed.

Blake Lewis

Blake came to the Southwest Washington Fair on Friday. I picked that day as my fair day :) Unfortunately, it was almost 100 degrees that day. Ick!

I went with my brother, who was visiting for the month from Japan, with his wife, and their 3-year old, Kenji.

I bought an Elephant Ear to share around. After Jeff ate half of it, he decided to buy one of his own. Not that I could have finished my own, though. Too much sugar!

Then we went on a few kid rides. Kenji was finally tall enough to go on some rides, and he seemed to enjoy them :D

Only had time for a few, so I could get to the concert on time. I bought a bloomin' onion on the way - I swear, I go to the fair mainly to eat lol.

There was a little section waaay in the back that had some shade, so I settled in there and chowed down. Blake was a bit late to start, which gave me time to finish my food without getting grease prints all over my camera.

The sound was great and he played some songs from his first album that I loved. I recorded a little with my camera, but I couldn't zoom all the way in because I had a hard time keeping the focus on him...every small twitch make the picture dance, even my heartbeat lol.

It cooled off a little and I was able to brave the sun to stand closer, just in time for him to do his cover She Will Be Loved/With or With out you. He didn't sound near as good as he did on tour when he did that song a lot, but I loved seeing the him build the song with his loop pedals. For those not familiar, he is a one person band. Just him and a guitar, and loop pedals where he can make different sounds to 'build' the background music for the song. He is also an awesome beat boxer.

So after that song, I was pretty much done. Hot, sweaty, headache, etc. Wish I could have lasted for more of the concert, but at that moment, I wanted a cold shower more lol.

I managed to buy a bag of cotton candy on my way out :)

*crawls out from under rock*

Well...it's been a bit since I have posted *cough*

I always think of LJ as the place to squee about fandom and everything else is just a bonus. But I have been so out of the loop as far as fannish things go that I really don't know what to do with myself here. So I guess I will just bullet point things and do a ramble!post.

*I got a final Jeopardy question/answer right. The clue was something like: "A famous author wrote about this narrator having an old war injury in the shoulder. xxx years later, in another book the injury was in his leg." Two of the contestants guessed Sherlock, while the other, correctly, guessed Watson :)

* Been introducing my Aunt to the Marvel Universe. I showed her Iron Man a month ago - she has a huge crush on RDJ and made me change the wallpaper on her computer to a picture of him as Iron Man hahaha. And I just showed her Captain America today. Next up will be Thor, Iron Man 2, then Avengers. Think I will skip Hulk, since it didn't add much. I loved Norton as Hulk, but now I have gotten so used to Mark Ruffalo that I just can't go back to it.

* My brother and his family is coming up July 29th from Japan. They will stay a month. Their kid is 3, but is a bit delayed due to early health issues. He gets frustrated easily because he has yet to start talking and just recently learned to walk. I am not a kid person at all.

* My cat, Ki, is in bad shape. She is 17 and having issues walking. I hope it is just the colder weather effecting her joints. But she has been throwing up every day almost - mainly cat food. She doesn't chew her food, so I think she just eats too fast a lot of the time. She also started peeing outside of the box, so we got her a lower one that she thankfully now uses. But she has pooped a few times in the other room. And to complicate things, our annoying little house dog always is trying to jump on her. Ki can normally hold her own when she feels good, but when she is just trying to slink away, I don't want a dog jumping at her.

* On a funny note, the dog can be sound asleep with me calling her name and totally ignoring me. But I can say 'Hi Ki' in a normal tone and the dog jumps up and looks all over the place for the cat. She falls for this all the time.

* I have to go to the dentist three times to get two crowns and a filling done. An expensive lesson to not wait two years between dentist visits.

* This is the most I have written on anything in a long time. I miss writing. But I also like playing on my iPad lol. I have been gathering ideas for NaNoWriMo, but I am so rusty that I don't expect it to go well.

* I just had the best month ever in June on my Etsy shop. *dances* Already made more than all of last year. http://beaderville.etsy.com

* Just started watching Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. The kid is freaking amazing. He hasn't really done much, but he is an actor to watch out for. He reminds me a bit of Elijah Wood

* Speaking of movies, I saw Free State of Jones last week. I really loved it! It it best as a Matthew Mcconaughey movie. So if you really like him, ignore all the bad reviews and go see it! MM doesn't disappoint.

Sherlock: The Abominable Bride

OMFG!

Spoilers

Spoilers

Spoilers

This was so much fun. I am a huge Andrew Scott as Moriarty fan, so this was extra awesome.

I managed to avoid all spoilers and kept the only to watching the first released trailer. And I was also prepared for it to suck ;) Just in case.

I thought it was going to be a standalone ep and was making a bet that there would be some twist about it all being in Sherlock's head. Hee! When Sherlock said 'He' instead of 'Her' for the bride surviving the head wound, I got excited. I didn't think that we would get any answers for how Moriarty survived - though technically, we still didn't lol. And when Sherlock's reality started shaking, that was awesome.

Enjoyed the Victorian versions of the characters; Lestrade's muttonchops, Molly dressed as a man, and Mycroft - though that was a bit alarming. Liked the bets on his health, as morbid as it was lol.

John seemed a bit smarter in this, and I liked his observations and noticing things Sherlock didn't.

Mary was decent. Still a bit annoyed with her character and I wonder if they are trying to retcon things a bit. She did have some awesome moments and I liked her scenes with Mycroft. They played off each other so well.

The Bride plot was a bit of a wash, which I am a little sad about, but at least they didn't give it the Hounds treatment by making it seem to really matter and failing. They used this plot just as much as they needed to.

Probably my only disappointment was Sherlock concluding that Moriarity was dead and that there was no way to survive it (even though he proved that there was a way for the bride to survive). Though I guess there is no fun in actual answers, since we never got a clear idea of how Sherlock survived the fall.

Loved all the present stuff. The Sherlock/Mycroft scenes were awesome, as was the recreating of the Reichenbach fall, with John's help this time, ha! And all the stuff on the plane was great.

Going to need to watch this again to catch all the dialogue, which was so much fun. Not sure if this is going to be as rewatchable as some of the eps, but it definitely blew some of them out of the water.

Nice tie-in to the next season, which we hopefully won't have to wait another two years for.

And that recap at the beginning made me want to watch all of the seasons all over again.

Thank you Youtube!

Hope everyone is having a good 2016 :D

Isn't it funny how one thing leads to another leads to another and leads to something awesome?

So, I am too lazy to change the TV channel (mainly because I am on my iPad and not really watching the TV anyway) and Anger Management was on. Never watched it before because Charlie Sheen bugs me. But I noticed Michael Arden. I didn't know he was on the show. Took me a moment to recognize him.

Huge fan of his from Bare: a Pop Opera (off Broadway musical) and I see him show up from time to time in things. I checked out his IMDB page, then read some comments. Found a thread on Bare and a discussion about how to 'obtain' copies. Then a reminder of the special 2 disc 1 DVD album that was put together. Sadly not with the original cast. I went to the homepage for the album, even though I already own it, just to see if it was still around. The vids that I watched over and over again weren't working, so I went to Youtube for nostalgia sake and looked then up. Watched a bunch.... and found something awesome XD

<lj-embed id="82" />

Victor Frankenstein

I just got back from seeing this movie and I really enjoyed it! Way different than I thought it would be and I had my expectations way low because of all the crappy reviews.

If you are a fan of the cast and the trailer made you squee, definitely try to see it while it is still in the theaters. Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy, and Andrew Scott are among my favorite actors and they were amazing here. Louise Brealey (Molly from Sherlock) made a brief appearance as well as Mark Gatiss.

There were only three other people in the theater with me (I did go at 4:00 on a Monday), which kept my giggle attack in check. No, the movie wasn't all that funny, but I had some nervous energy happening toward the middle lol.

*comes out from under rock*

I seem to be lurking a lot these days, though I do try to keep up on reading my flist, at least :)

I've written 5000+ words on an Adam/Blake fic. It kinda sucks, but it feels good to be writing again!

Nothing too exciting going on here. Same, same. More TV DVRing than I know what to do with....11 hours recorded on Tuesday ack!

I saw The Martian last week. Very good! Definitely going to buy it when it comes out. Next, I want to see The Walk. Looks amazing :)

Another interesting Dream

So awhile back, I got this cheap imitation of a FitBit...it only cost 12 bucks...so yeah, doesn't really work. It can count steps and kinda monitor sleep (it rounds to the nearest half hour and I could jump around and it still counts it as sleeping). BUT, since I started wearing it at night, I have remembered all my dreams! The one night I didn't wear it, I didn't remember a thing.

Odd, but that totally makes it worth the money for me :D

So I had an Avengers dream last night. Kinda. It was pre-Iron Man. Me and another girl were messengers in this underground stone cavern. Thousands of people lived down there and it was a really rough 'neighborhood'. Tony Stark was undercover (for lack of a better word) and he was rooming with this young curly haired man called Jarvis.

We delivered letters and government stuff a lot to them. One time we were found out and the package we were delivering was almost taken. Lots of running and hiding and taking oddly placed elevators. Sometime later, Jarvis had been killed. Tony's face when we made the next delivery was heartbreaking :(

I woke up shortly after that. In the dream, my character didn't think there was a relationship going on - too much almost dying to have time to analyze my clients, but when I woke up - wow.

I don't read Tony fic. I might have skimmed a summary a month ago or so about Jarvis being Tony's secret lover, but I want to ship this! Might have to ask on avengers_request if I can't shake this.

Meet Felix

We have a raccoon that has been showing up looking for food. Well, now he begs for food on our porch:

I would add a few more pics, but I can't seem to get them to show up right side up here. Anyone know? I saved them right side up in a photo editor, and I also right clicked on the picture and rotated it that way...nothing helped.

Anyone have any ideas?

Battle Creek

I had a steamy Milt/Russ dream the other night. Sadly, I don't have fandom dreams very often, let alone smutty ones lol. The last one I can remember was a Prison Break dream between two characters I never thought about slashing before, haha.

I'm going to really miss Battle Creek. It was my favorite new show :( It ended well, though, I think. I swear they had two different endings in mind depending on if they got picked up for another season.

So many cool and different shows get cancelled before they can find an audience. It is really depressing. My favorite show, Night Shift, barely made it to renewal. I felt like a nervous wreck as I waited for the news.

How did everyone else's shows do?

Trip time!

The massive trip is underway!

Flew from Seattle early early Thursday morning to San Francisco to catch a flight 2 hours later to Atlanta. The flight was delayed for 4 hours because of a cracked handle, the type you use as a grip, on the emergency door. It wasn't noticed until after the safety check and we were all on board. We did get free Direct TV for the flight and a 50 dollar voucher for another flight. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy and Edge of Tomorrow (it finished just as we landed).

Went the the Atlanta Zoo today and the World of Coke Museum. Tomorrow, we are driving to Florida. Wheee!
