RM is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He was previously known as Rap Monster. He is the leader of boy band BTS, who are also known as Bangtan Boys, Bangtan Sonyeondan, Beyond the Scene, and Bulletproof Boy Scouts. The other members of BTS are J-Hope, Jimin, Jin, Jung Kook, Suga, and V. He has featured in the documentary Right People, Wrong Place; appeared on quiz show Hot Brain: Problematic Men; and hosted music programs Inkigayo, along with Jin; and M Countdown, with J-Hope and Jimin.

His family moved to Ilsan District, Goyang, when he was five. RM is of the Gangneung Kim clan.
