The Scarlet Eroica!

Who is the Scarlet Eroica?  This dashing and mysterious thief who has turned his talents toward rescuing French aristocrats from the guillotine has sent the English court into an uproar. Everyone wants to know who he really is, especially Citizen Franco Juliani.  

He's not Dorian Red, the Earl of Gloria, that much is certain! Gloria is much more concerned with the fit of his coat and the fall of his cravat. His only interest in France is their tailors. And he is, not to put too fine a point on it, a nincompoop.

And he's not Major Klaus Heinz von der Eberbach, military liasion from Bonn to the Court of St. James.  The Major might have sympathies towards the aristos, given his family connection to the Habsburgs, but he is a man of upstanding morals.

But - what mysterious shadow lies over the Major's recent transfer from Paris to London?  And why has Gloria's ardent pursuit of the Major suddenly cooled?  And, most important of all, will Eroica and his Gang succeed in rescuing the Dauphin?  Or will the Scarlet Eroica face the guillotine himself?

For Fandom Trumps Hate 2019, I was lucky to have two bidders for my  offer of a story.  One of them was Indybaggins, one of my favorite Cabin  Pressure authors, and she asked me for a story in that fandom!  Today I  began posting the first two chapters of that story, which will have a  new chapter posted over the next 10 days.

Exclusive Patreon story coming in January!

Starting  in January, I will begin posting chapters of a new story here.  This is  a "From Eroica With Love" story fused with "The Scarlet Pimpernell"  called "Scarlet Eroica".   Each chapter will be available 1st for  Patrons at the $5 level for a week, then to anyone on Patreon the week  afterward when a new chapter debutes for Patrons.   Then I will begin  posting it on Ao3.

With the funds raised from this I hope to  commission artwork for the story, starting with cover art.  If you know  of any artists who might be interested, point them in my direction!  I  am looking for something similar to the posters for the Broadway musical  or the Takarazuka Review DVD covers, except with Dorian and Klaus as  the primary subjects.

As of today, I have been retired for 2 weeks!

It is just  now starting to hit me, to be honest.  The first week was a holiday week  and so I was busy with family things as well as attending a celebratory  concert (Weird Al).  This week started with an unexpected visit by my  brother - and I was able to join him for lunch which I normally can't do  because of work.  Tuesday I was a little under the weather so I vegged  and rewatched Good Omens and Yuri on Ice, so that was a nice break.  And  then yesterday I realized - I don't have anything in particular that I  have to do and it will be like this for the rest of my life.  It was a  weird feeling after 40 years of working with occasional breaks of  unemployment - and working in one place for 15 years recently.  I  haven't ever been able to take more than a week of vacation at a time,  and I usually ended up doing remote support at least 1 day during  vacation.  So now I'm feeling - something.  Not sure if it's a good or  bad feeling, just a little at loose ends, I guess.
