I really don't post here anymore, do I?

The sad thing is that I don't post to my blog enough, either. I spend most of my time tweeting, really.

But, if I may confess, I have the urge to write fic again. Which rather surprised me given everything. But nostalgia is nibbling away at me, so I'm thinking of participating in one exchange this year. And for that I need to be here.

So, yeah.

*twiddles thumbs*

In other things, I have a festival in less than 3 weeks and I am sooooo not ready. I have got to dye up a massive mountain of yarn, revise a pattern and knit up a shop sample with it, and then write up at least 2 free patterns. All in the next two weeks because I need to leave a week for pictures, labeling, and inventory. o.o;

This means that all good will aside, I'm not exactly going to be posting here a lot. I do *read* regularly, though. I visit every day, still. I've just switched to mostly lurking.
25th-Mar-2011 05:07 pm - So I added another auction
dot dot dot
to help_japan. There's only about an hour left for new listings, so this one squeaked in under the wire. After that it switches over to bidding only for the rest of the month.

Speaking of wire, this is my new listing.

Wool/stainless steel earrings, with a garnet bead and sterling silver hook. Yes, I said stainless steel. It's a yarn spun by Habu Textiles. These are pictures of my pair; I'm making a new pair for the winner of the auction.

The longer time frame of this auction has been a little disconcerting. Good, but disconcerting!

help_japan is up and running. Here's the FAQ, but auctions are open starting today (you can still list offers). CORRECTION: new listings can be added through March 26. Bidding closes on the 31st.

I have three four auctions up.
Custom yarn or Corriedale spinning fiber offer - 2 100g skeins of wool/nylon sock or superwash worsted or 12oz of fiber.

2 skeins of 2ply New Zealand Gottland wool in natural grey. (It seems appropriate to also match this donation, whatever it ends up being with a donation to NZ earthquake relief, so I'm going to do that myself. I got a little birthday cash, and it's a good place to spend it.)

Autographed Equus playbill, signed by Richard Griffiths.

Knitted dumpling toys, catnip optional.
Have at it, folks! List, browse, bid if you will for a good cause.
19th-Aug-2010 01:54 pm - A plug for Help Pakistan
yarny goodness
It's pretty quiet on my flist and I know that I've mostly disappeared from LJ, but I wanted to send out a plug for help_pakistan.

It's an auction along the help_haiti model, to raise flood relief money for devastated Pakistan. All the funds raised go directly to the aid organizations, no money ever changes hands between offerer and bidder.

Money is tight, I know this so very well. But my stash is mighty! And I love sending presents. So I'm offering up two "swap" boxes, like the one I donated for Help Haiti. This time I've added spinning fiber as an option, too.

This was the box I sent to my Help Haiti winning bidder. It's pretty awesome if I do say so myself. And I do.

The comm is taking listings starting today, and it'll open up for bidding on Monday. People can add listings after Monday, the lead time is just so there's a good assortment to bid on come Monday.

There's too much disaster to go around. There are horrible floods and landslides in China right now, too, although nothing on the scale of Pakistan. I love how these auctions give me a way to help, even just a little.

ETA: Help Pakistan has opened bidding early. People can offer things until the 27th. Bidding will run until 1 minute short of Midnight on Saturday, August 28. Fulfillment is expected by October 1.
18th-Aug-2010 08:53 am - Writer's Block: Living the dream
yarny goodness
What is your ultimate dream job? Do you think you'll ever live the dream?

What I'm doing now, but earning enough to pay all my bills, buy what I need, help out the folks. You know, a living wage.

Given how things have gone this month and last, I think I might succeed. Fingers crossed.
2nd-Jul-2010 05:46 pm - Things! Many things!
dot dot dot
First! I'm having a giveaway on my blog for some yummy lotions, etc. Urbbody is good for your body.

And check this out! the Fiber Cooperative It's an online "fiber festival" where you can browse a sample of people's wares and then click through to their shop if you like. It's free to subscribe, and it's brand new just started. Even though it's new, it's definitely started with a bang. Go see how great it looks! :)

Biz is going well, and I'm feeling out the whole Facebook thing. LOTS of yarn dyed up in the last week, and more to come this weekend. Not looking forward to the next heat wave, I've got to say. I'll be dyeing yarn and making samples right through it. o.o

Meanwhile, in other things entirely, instead of going to see "that movie" (The Last Airbender), which has been panned right, left, and center, I bought the A:TLA dvds today. They're more than 50% off on Amazon right now. I've never seen them so low.

I am enjoying my schadenfreude pie regarding TLA. It's beyond me how anyone could believe that the film would be good with everyone at the top's complete disrespect for the source material. The whitewashing of the cast should have been the air horn announcing the rest of the failberg. And I say this as someone who thinks Dev Patel could have nailed the teenage emo goofy serious sad proud woobie balance that is Prince Zuko, if only he'd been given better all around. And, you know, if all the bad guys in the film weren't brown against all the white good guys.

I'm disappointed about the film, yes, but my disappointment has been months in the making. Everyone who was optimistic is just catching up. :P

(Oy, I have so much work to do!)
15th-Jun-2010 11:30 pm - Tell me a story
koi - feeding frenzy
I'm giving away one Ben & Jerry's free pint coupon on my blog. All you have to do to throw your name in the ring is to comment at the blog and tell me a story about your family, or a family story. (I start off with something interesting I learned yesterday, so even if you don't want the ice cream, consider going for the story!)

That's not hard, is it?

C'mon, you know you want it.....

(note, the coupon is only good in the US and expires March 2, 2011. BUT, if someone outside the US wins, I'll send them a little surprise instead.)

And yes, there's a reason why I'm directing everything to my blog these days. Um, because it's my blog. Heh.

I did set up a Facebook fanpage for my shop and the blog, but the blog itself is "where it's at". *cough*
lbh - yarn
I've been putting my energy to the blog and my new Ravelry group for the shop and getting so many things done. But I'm having an OMG I've been doing this for a year sale this weekend, so I thought I should mention it here. :)

Through May 31, 2010 I'm offering 10% off all orders, not including s/h, refunded after checkout via paypal. It can be combined with a free shipping coupon as I know those are out there, and all orders of $100 or more before the discount have free shipping also.

The bunny will take you there. :)

OMG it's been a year.
