It's that time of year again, and isn't it starting to look festive? On Sunday December 18th, characters will wake to find the streets lined with decorations o' plenty. Christmas trees, candy canes, gardlands and stockings on every wall you can find, the city is as beautifully decorated as ever. But let's not forget the mistletoe! What better way to end the year than to share a kiss under the mistletoe with a loved one... right?
OnSaturday December 10th, you'll find something peculiar on your nearest surface. A little white pill, a bottle of water, and a note:
To guide you in the storm.
Maybe Charon's words are sticking in the back in your mind. Maybe somethingiscoming that someone is trying to prepare you for. Then again, heisa terrible skin-taking monster, so why should you take his words as truth?
On Friday, October 28th characters will wake up to find Fortuna looking a little different. Halloween decorations will be out in full force! From jack-o-lanterns to plastic skeletons to cotton cobwebs to candles hanging from streetlights by string, there'll be all sorts of funny little items for characters to investigate. There'll even be bowls of candy and bottles of characters' favorite drinks (alcohol, juice, tea, etc) placed liberally around all three cities. Nothing like holiday spirit right?
So... Saturday's dawning nice and bright. It's been nearly three days since these "Scientists" arrived. And today... you can see the sun? The fog's clearing up a bit.
Hey there Fortuna. You've had a bit of a break, right? Sure those dead bodies have been clogging up the place and this fog is hardly doing the complexion any wonders, but nothing else has been happening. No more monsters, no more heartache. That's a good thing right?
Well it's getting about time to reach the last act of this little play. At 11:30 PM on Monday there was a sudden explosion in the Spero Observatory as seen via Knowlton's latest communication (let's hope no innocents were walking nearby). Following soon after an announcement was made by a mysterious man. What oh what could this mean?
Well maybe it's time to find out the reason behind all these dead bodies. This joker on the network might have some answers, but to get them you're going to have to be cooperative. He wants transportation to Discedo from Spero. And he wants it yesterday. Sounds demanding. Sounds a little upstartish.
You may soon find yourselves wanting to cooperate with him though. Starting Tuesday characters in Spero will find the fog growing denser. As the week progresses through Friday it will become harder to breathe, characters might find themselves growing short of breathe easier with all that water in the air. Temperatures are rising and body temperatures are no exception, fevers, chills and maybe just a small sense of... paranoia.
Is someone following you? What was that shadow? That sound? Whether you're inside or out, alone or with others, as the week progresses every sound, feeling, sight and sensation will begin to seem less and less innocent. One could almost swear someone was... following you. But surely not...
On Tuesday, September 13th things might be getting a little strange in Fortuna! Wake up in whatever ramshackle apartment or house you've claimed as your own and things might look a little different. Was that cup always there? That picture on the wall? That book by the door?
Close your eyes, look away, take a second glance though and they might all be gone. Only your imagination. ...Right?
Starting on Tuesday characters will begin to see objects. Cups, books, clothes, normal every day objects as if the buildings and surroundings around them were in use by someone else. Of course these are objects that are normal for Fortuna. Guns, knives, axes and other weapons will also be seen along with canned food, strips of dried meat, containers of collected water and whatever else you'd see in a place were people constantly rough it.
Like a hallucination though when your character blinks or looks away these objects will disappear. They might not even notice at first, what's an out of place cup in the larger scheme of things right? Going on through Friday September 16th these "visions" will become more and more frequent until the objects don't disappear at all, even if your character does look away...
There'll be more info Friday. If your character tries to touch any of the objects they'll find there's nothing really there. As usual questions/comments involving this can go here!
Hey there Discedo! Cat here with some house cleaning + plot. First off please make sure you have spectavi and linquere friended. They will be used heavily for plots/IC game information in the future from now on and since they're now on the friends add this is the last time we'll be mentioning to double check this.
Secondly mod applications are open for one more week. They will be closing next Wednesday, September 14th. For anyone who'd like to apply, but has not done so yet you may do so here
Thirdly Cube/Tatsumi-mun is kindly making us some up-to-date maps since I have all the map skill of a turtle on speed. So to help with this, if there's anything you remember from past player/mod plots in Discedo (and there have been a lot) in terms of locations or things characters have built (the mountain town where several characters went to stop John Summers as well as the safehouse in Discedo are both good examples of what we're looking for) please do list them here so we can reflect them on the maps and future settings info pages! Just to be clear there will be a world/lake map as well as maps for Dissimulo, Spero and Discedo so any information you know wasn't reflected on the maps we had previously would be helpful!
Finally as you can see by the latest posts in spectavi and linquere there is some plot underway! Namely we have three new monsters in the game and here are their statistics:
I am currently in the process of re-doing the Monster page so please pardon its appearance at this time, it will be brought up-to-date and re-organized some time hopefully within the next few weeks.
In addition: we do not have any mod plans for transportation to Spero. If you have any questions on what your characters can and cannot do if they are interested in taking up this project please drop them here! We encourage creativity and there will be more plot in the near future dealing with this situation.
As usual please leave any questions/comments/concerns if you have them and we'll answer them as best we can, thank you.
To be more exact, the IC window for coin-collecting will be has ended! As always, you're welcome to backdate whatever you need and continue threads from the event. Real characters can now start being revived.
Anyone who has played doppelgangers, please report here if the coin has been recovered or if your character is getting sick as a reference for us. Thanks again, ya'll! Hope you had fun! You may be seeing more of these guys in the future
Tomorrow a post will be made to spectavi -- a broadcast like the previous news anchor posts, in which all electronics (communicators, radios, even unplugged or broken televisions) will be briefly hijacked in order to deliver a message -- detailing the situation and the demands of the creatures holding your friends' bodies hostage.
HMD will be postponed until next week on Friday the 26th. We apologize for the delay.
And lastly, if you have any questions/comments/concerns about the new mod situation or anything else in Discedo, you can feel free to IM any of us or post to the concerns & inquiries page.
On a personal note, I'll try to get to all questions about the plot (and plotting) ASAP! Work has kinda been running me ragged with great danes and diabetic cats, so I'm liable to pass out early. You can direct most questions to Cat and Ash, and anything else I'll get to as soon as I can! /bluh bluh my job oh my god I have to go back to the demon cats tomorrow kill me.
Your nightmare is about to begin. YOU READY? If by chance you didn't see, the first part of the plot is here.
Sunday night (that is, tomorrow night) is when the creatures will come out of the shadows to take your characters' skins and selves. Maybe they'll catch a glimpse of something moving towards them out of the corner of their eye. Feel a bruising grip as cold as ice. If they're lucky, that's all they'll feel before lights out. With no bodies and no one missing, there will be little to suspect. (Wait, no bodies? Hold on, I'll get to that in a minute.)
Because, you know, you can't expect dead bodies without something following on its heels, can you?
As some of our older members know, the planet all of your characters are trapped on is no stranger to the supernatural. The dead don't have the best track record for moving on. Ghosts haunt the remains of shattered cities and monsters attempt to pick off survivors. That's life, so it goes.
But at least in those times, the worst you can expect is death. At least vengeful spirits don't try to become you.
Yeah, I recently bought paid accounts for some RPG journals too. (Not for this journal) and am not too happy about that. Sucks you weren't granted a refund. Doubt I'd get one too. Heh
You can do LJ or DW! The LJ app page will be open for the rest of this week (we'll be closing it on Monday after this latest round). The DW page is over here.
