I'm very strict on crediting. Not only should it be done with my work, but with any artist's work. I realize that it is a pretty difficult thing to do on the internet but there are also a lot of ways in which we can help promote other communities/people who work quite hard to give you nice, pretty things to use and look at (or whatever).
The following has been added to the
F.A.Q. page:
*REMINDER* Crediting is not only limited to LJ. I cannot stop you from using my graphics in other websites but please try to link back to the community whenever possible, and not change the file name of the graphics. I'm part of a lot of websites and will easily be able to track which graphics are actually mine. Please exercise vigilance; credit and report those who do not.
Some examples of crediting on commonly used websites (besides LJ):
* Twitter - not changing the file name and/or putting credit on the bio
* Tumblr - linking back to
devastationist via: 1) click-through link, 2) content source, 3) text under the picture.
If you come across an image you wish to credit or possibly find a source for (applicable to any picture/artwork/graphic), drag or upload the picture to
Google Images, which has the function to look for similar images posted on the web. Find sites that have posted the image before, etc. Use this to your advantage.
You basically have no excuse to not credit, save for laziness. But that would speak wonders about you, wouldn't it? In truth, I don't want my graphics to be used outside of LJ since it's quite difficult to trace. So please try to credit from the get-go if you ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY MUST(!!!) use my graphics elsewhere on the int4rwebz. Remember, permission for
anything is but a comment/message away.
On that note, thank you very much for supporting this slow community. I appreciate it very much m(_ _)m
