Does anyone, anyone at all know where I might find a cross stitch pattern of a cruise ship?

pinging azriona because I know you used to do a lot of that.

My mum and dad love going on cruise ships and I would love to do one for a Christmas present for my mum but I can't find any patterns :(

I know times are tough and it's hard to give.

I'm doing a 10km moonlight walk in order to raise awareness and support for people with MS.

I've set a goal of $100, any donation would be greatly appreciated.

I signed up for Pottermore. It's kind of fun. I'm really enjoying reading the excerpts and behind the scenes stuff.

My username is KnightGold7870 - it was the best on offer (friend me if you want!).

and I got sorted in Gryffindor. Phew!

So. I am seriously considering buying an iPad 3. Why? Well as I tell Nick - because I want one :D

That's good enough for me :)

Has anyone ever used the RentSmart system? You pay like $7 a week for 3 years and at the end of the time period you either buy it outright or upgrade to the next shiny item. I'm trying to find out what the catch is if they have one - it doesn't appear to charge interest, it's just a rental system.

I have to admit, the very impatient person that I am wants to have an iPad right now.

Uh. I must be the only person in the world that actually likes the new LJ Cut symbol of scissors. It's nice know when I click on a link that is the spoiler cut which opens just that section or the cut link which opens just that entry in the page.

or maybe everyone else just likes to whinge a lot.

I am going shopping tomorrow for a new computer. My laptop is turning itself off every 15 minutes and it's driving me crazy. Especially when I am in the middle of a battle in Marvel Alliance and I lose it because the computer shuts itself off!

So yes. New computer tomorrow. I'm leaning towards a HP Pavilion All-In-One 100-5120a PC. Mostly because it's fairly well priced and won't shut itself down.

I just poured myself a bowl of Crunchy Nut cereal to have as some breakfast, added the milk and sat down to enjoy.

Had my first mouthful and then looked in the bowl to find ANTS! ANTS in my cereal.

Now all I can think of is - did I just eat an ANT. Will I become an ANT now.

It is both horrifying and hilarious.

I finally watched the first episode of the new Sherlock (Australia - still stuck in the dark ages) and I really enjoyed it.

Does anyone want to link me to their reaction posts? I want to be able to read everyone's thought and reactions now :)

Edited for clarification - I mean the new season of Sherlock - Scandal in Belgravia.

I've had a really good birthday today. Slept in a bit and then got some really brilliant gifts from Nick. Then had a delicious lunch at Hogsbreath which was free. Went for a lovely walk with Nick around the Redcliffe Botanical Gardens and then loafing around the house enjoying each other.

Also got many phone calls and messages from family and friends!

Under here are pics of the gifts I got from Nick. All are completely fun and nothing I actually really needed as a grown up!Collapse )

It's been a good day.

Took Eli to the vet on Tuesday and the vet isn't sure what happened to him but thinks it most likely that he ate something that didn't agree with him. Poor Eli got to experience the vet sticking her finger up his bottom - she said that his intestines were inflamed which I wasn't surprised with the number of times he was going to the toilet.

She gave us this miracle stuff which had 3 benefits - 1. it completely dried him up so he wasn't going every second, 2. gave him electrolytes to restore what he had lost and 3. had antibodies to kill the bacteria that was in his tummy and causing the problem.

I tell you, this is good shit - gave it to him as soon as we got home and it started working almost immediately. By the afternoon I had my beloved crazy, bouncy puppy back.

So yeah - he's not quite back to 100% but he's about 95% there. So happy.

Of course I think the stress of it gave me a whopper of headache yesterday so I'm home today trying to get rid of it.

Eli
It must be the season for gastric related doggy issues. Eli has spent the entire night with a terrible case of the runs, he's got to the point where there are droplets of blood.

Not fun, so not fun.

So I'm waiting for the vets to open and hoping they can squeeze us in so he can get checked out.

Poor baby.

One thing that is kind of annoying me is that I have day 2 of my 2 day course today and I'm not sure if I can make it. Urgh. Bad timimg.

Update: Vet appointment at 10.40am and he didn't finish his breakfast. I am a bit worried.

Long time no see.

I haven't updated this thing is ages!

Quick run down of my life as it currently is:

In my last week of 4 week leave. It's heaven. I don't want to go back.

I have travelled so much for work in the past 6 months. Allegedly there are still a few hospitals we have to do even though I've technically been pulled off the project. That will be fun when I get back.

Also I think we've been nominated for the Premiers Award. I might have to go dress shopping!

Drove up to Cairns to visit Nick's mum and sister. It was fun. The car travelled fantastically.

The doggies are all currently at the vets. Eli and Kit are getting the big snip and Lucy is getting a thing cauterized off her leg. Have also found out she has a congenital problem that has caused her to lose her sight in her left eye and the right one will soon follow *sigh*

Nick and I are crazy mad people who have started getting comic books. and a lot of them. Currently following Fear Itself in the Marvel Universe and have started getting 22 of the new 52 DC books. You can't imagine how expensive that is.

Also trying to store comics in an easily accessible way = impossible in Australia.

Dear Author,

The Doctor has a name - it's The Doctor. It's not Ian and it will never be Ian. Having Rose call him Ian will make me hit the back button so fast it will almost disappear.

Also. Do not call a baby Alonzo. That sucks.

No love,

5 days without LJ. I have missed you *hugs it*

Just spent 4 days up in Cairns installing one of my databases in 3 wards. I've been doing a project at work for the last couple of months and it's really starting to come together.

Over the next couple of months I'll be travelling to Townsville, Mackay, Bundaberg, Roma, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Nambour and the Gold Coast installing the database in different wards. Also going back up to Cairns in about 6 weeks to install it in 4 other wards.

This has been so good and so much fun. I'm getting real recognition for my work and people are enjoying it. It one of the hardest things I've done but I am loving it.

and now to catch up on 5 days of LJ. I hope there is many, many fics to read!!!!

This is the cyclone that is hitting QLD right now. The eye is expected to hit south of Cairns about 11pm tonight. The impacts are expected to reach as far as Mt Isa and even the NT. It's just that big.

It's super imposed over the USA to give you a sense of the scale of it.

Somebody really hates Queensland. First we get flooded and now the north end is about to get hit with a cyclone they say is as powerful as Hurricane Katrina. Luckily I'm not affected yet but the hospital has been put on Code Brown and Cairns hospitals are being evacuated.

Not to mention Nick's mum and sister live in Cairns.

After having over a month off from work I have to go back on Monday. To say I am not looking forward to this is very much an understatement.

Oh well, I need the money.

I spent yesterday at a day spa here in Redcliffe courtesy of a Christmas present from Nick, it was wonderful. I had a body scrub, milk bath (in a gorgeous spa bath that had lights that made the water change colour), a massage followed by a body wrap and a facial. Then I had a hair treatment and a manicure and pedicure. I felt so relaxed, it was just the thing I needed.

So yeah, not much happening here. I'm in the process of trying to get some more money from the bank so I can do an extension to the house so I'm anxiously waiting to see if I get the go ahead.

How are all of you?

Nick and I were supposed to be driving up to Cairns. First we planned to leave on the 5th but postposted it because of the floods (pretty much the entire east side of Quuensland is under water) and hoped to leave tomorrow.

It's still pouring down here and all the way up the coast, in fact now Gympie and Maryborough are under water.

So we scrapped that idea.

Instead we have booked 3 days on the Gold Coast. We're finally using our Dreamworld tickets (Sure it will rain but we'll still have fun) and I also plan on taking Nick to Dracula's Resturant and Caberet show.

The weather forecast is Rain, rain and more rain but it will be good to get away. A bit of a late birthday present for myself :)

Ugh.

Had the worst time last night. Was battling a headache for most of the dy but it got really bad in the afternoon, left work early to pick up Black Ops for Nick and by the time I got home my head was pounding and I felt really sick.

It got progressively worse during the afternoon to the point where I couldn't handle any noise or any lights and my stomach was roiling.

Ended up going to bed at 8pm only to wake up and throw up later. It was so gross.

Luckily I feel better now but I didn't go to work today because myu head is still tender and the thought of food makes me go all icky.

I'm still not even sure what it was? Was it something I ate or a migraine?

The puppies are still gorgeous but sooo exhausting! I still madly love them to death. Eli is especially good at the whole puppy dog eyes can't possibly stay mad at him method. I have some more pics of them that I'll put up later. They are growing so quickly!

Tonight N and I are going to see Tripod. Somewhat surprisingly they are actually coming to Redcliffe O_o. AWESOME!!!

08 September 2010 @ 12:11 pm

Chester had a fit last night. Not the worst one he's ever had but badder the anything lately. There is nothing worse than the feeling of holding your doggie and he can't stand or do anything. I couldn't even get his medicatipn to him because he can't swallow.

I think he even lost consciousness for a bit because I was carrying him out to do a wee (he usually loses bladder control when fitting) and a was putting him on the ground when just went limp and his head just lolled to the side. First thing I did was check that his heart was still beating.

I admit i'm worried. He's getting old now. He's 13 and his body won't be able to handle it for much longer.

It's been a fun few days and by fun I mean not.

Nick got a call from his Mum last week that his grandfather wasn't doing to well so we decided to go for a visit (they live in Blackbutt, we live in Redcliffe - it's about a 3 hour drive). Nick invited his Dad along but he wasn't free for a couple of weekends so I told Nick I'd drive him there on Sunday.

Drove up on Sunday (very nice drive by the way) and made it fairly easily to the Aged Care unit he is staying at. Met his grandma (I haven't met any of these people before) and then saw his grandad. To be honest his grandad wasn't there, it was just a shell of a man. This guy is 97.5 years old and was a Polish POW in WW2. Supposedly a real charmer of the ladies :)

We stayed with his grandma, just keeping her company and looking at this guy who couldn't move, walk, talk, see or hear. It was heartbreaking.

We eventually left after 2 and a bit hours to drive back home. We left at 2.20pm and at 5.30pm his grandad passed away.

We were fine until his Grandma called. She was barely holding it together and she was crying down the phone. I have to admit I got a bit choked up.

So back up to Blackbutt on Friday for the funeral. Nick's mum is flying down from Cairns for it so I told her I'd pick her up from the airport and I'll drive her there on Friday.

On top of all that I'm sick as well. Hacking cough, sore throat and my chest feels really tight. Have taken the last 2 days off sick andf I have to go in and ask for Friday off.

The Steak and Cheese sub from Subway is now my most favourite one ever. Add in some bacon and make sure the cheese is Old English and NOM NOM.

On a completely unrelated note I signed up for Optus's Premium Speed package which started on Monday and it's fantastic! Called them on Monday, got a brand new modem delivered yesterday, got it connected and ZOOM ZOOM. 4 times as fast internet speed.

Optus have upgraded thier hybrid fibre-coaxial network and the speeds are currently the same as the NBN will offer. My new modem (WIFI!) is a DOCIS 3 modem which mean that the data can be sent through multiple channels instead of just one which is why it's quicker.

Anyway I'm really happy with it but Nick still has to test to see if he can still play multiplayer on the Xbox. With my old modem I had to open the ports to the Xbox otherwise he kept getting kicked off any multiplayer matches. I'm hoping that this modem will automtically do that.

My head hurts. I really hope the Ibuprofen plus Codeine I just took will kick in soon.

OH! The EKKA started today so where I usually park my car for free is charging $20 a day so for the next week and a bit I'm goiong to have to take public transport again. Ew.

I am mostly stealing this from avaaricious because my memory is faulty as all hell.

So I probably didn't mention that I went to New Zealand for a long weekend (23rd July - 25th July)

But it was a very good trip.

It definitely wasn't long enough, I have been to NZ three times now and each time I love it. I would so move there if I could get a decent job there.

Went over with littlenell, avaaricious, enriquefellatio and non ljers Krystle, Ange, and Tracey.

brief account of trip follows.Collapse )

I had a brilliant time and really enjoyed it with everyone who went. Would definitely go on a trip with them again.
