Its true that I am capable of many things, but consider myself an EVEN better guide than doer alone. Yet to say even better does not mean the good is not good, but just even better.
I often say, that ‘I am an expert in what NOT to do‘. This makes me an excellent guide and well informed advisor. For I have been doing projects since I was ten years old. And not just any projects, but full on ones, complete and comprehensive. Now I am sixty-two. That’s a lot of years. And learn I have.
Early on, this was extensive in architecture followed by a fascination with Asia leading to time in South Korea then Japan. If truth be told, in some real ways, the real foreign experience was living in the south as an–at the time–pushy Yankee–then falling in love with the stock market and working my way up to senior broker, at Morgan–what, buying and selling hundreds of millions in stocks. Then I got deep into computing and data, leading to my current preoccupation with knowledge management, after cutting my teeth in professional media for established thought leaders.
My areas of genuine expertise are:
- Stocks, technical investing, and trading. Capital Markets from the top down, discussed here.
- Social media with an emphasis on not just how to GET a quality following, but how to GROW then retain a QUALITY audience. This is supported by ability to navigate WordPress and knowing when NOT to add new systems like Instagram, Podbean, and so on. Less is more. Sharpen the saw!
- Extensive knowledge of buildings every which way–from building materials both retail and commercial, production design, construction contract administration.
- Immediate above, is adumbrated by years of hands on, not just theoretic knowledge of inventory, warehousing, merchandising, ocean freight forwarding, logistics and trucking, distribution. This includes power equipment (forklift, reach truck, order picker).
- Unusually broad knowledge of Asia, relative to someone. who did not live there for a long period of time, but more many angles that allow me to understand.
- Professional knowledge of climate change activists and advocacy.
- Modeling data as a strong end user, not at a data scientist level, but relative to strong use of Excel and the Cloud maximally.
- Knowledge of holistic health. This is matched by knowledge of fine cook and cooking.
- Ample knowledge of personal development systems, relative to NOT being a licensed clinician or post-grad social worker–aka personal growth. Wanna be a healer? ‘Physician, heal thyself!’
- Deep familiarity with enterprise from finance, HR, business planning
- Analytics, data-modeling, data mining, databases. How to curate a complex asset base from capital, sales, customers, facilities, products, talent, engagements, events, and web-assets. How to generate then maintain, an ongoing process of improvement.
- Extensive knowledge of sales. 140,000 phone calls: 100k in finance/40k in industrial sales. Ability to create, sustain, and refine a CRM well beyond standard turn key products. Sales Management.
- Advisory in conflicts, problem solving when issues bridge people, process, and results.
