About the Owners

Proprietors Karen and Steve Ureel both love active adventures and have traveled extensively to places that offer anything to do with natural settings and the outdoors, places that offer beautiful landscapes and active fun such as hiking, biking, and sightseeing, both domestically and abroad.  Mix in health-conscious eating and food experiences (they are major foodies!), along with unique and interesting hospitality stays, and you will find Steve and Karen there!

Between Steve’s long and distinguished career in real estate (www.parkbridgehomes.com) and their shared love for active adventure, travel and fun, when the opportunity arose to acquire a Blue Water area campground and develop it into a really cool destination resort that encompasses their healthy and active lifestyle, the Ureels jumped at the opportunity.  Their vision and masterplan quickly came together for an upscale and active adult-focused RV and glamping resort where both traditional overnight RVers, seasonal campers, and non-traditional campers (glampers!) alike would be welcomed.

Choose the experience of sitting around a campfire, with s’mores in hand, and sleeping in luxurious accommodations without the hassles of loading up the truck and pulling an RV / putting up a tent. This is what glampers are looking for!

Dancing Fire Glamping and RV Resort (formally known as Port Huron Township Campground) underwent extensive redevelopment following the 2023 camping season and reopended in Spring 2024 with many new resort amenities, including a new upscale clubhouse reception area with attached pavilion, patio, pool and hot tub area, fitness and yoga space; a pickle ball court; a fenced dog run with dog bathhouse and a playground. Scenic walking trails and other amenities such as EV charging stations for those wishing to arrive in their electric vehicles will be rolled out in the coming years. And, golf court, bike, and e-bike rentals are now available!

In addition to the new resort amenities, many options for glamping hospitality beyond traditional campsites are now offered, including The Cottages @ Dancing Fire (luxury park models), Rustic Deluxe Cabins, The Safari Camp @ Dancing Fire (lux style safari tent units), The Bus Stop (stay in a Skoolie! And if you don’t know the term, Google it – so cool!), Vintage Airstreams and RVs, and several other glamping options that will eventually be rolled out (think tree houses, A-frame cabins, and other very cool stays!).

Our lodging is designed to accommodate couples and both large and small groups.  We cater to booking groups of many sizes – family reunions, wedding parties, girlfriend getaways, multi-family vacations, and other groups looking for a fun, relaxing oasis near the Great Lakes. Our 25+ acre hillside location overlooks Stocks Creek, a 40-acre natural sanctuary that offers beautiful views, trails and bird watching.   Stocks Creek connects directly to the Black River, which winds through our Port Huron community out to the St. Clair River and on to Lake Huron.  Rent one of our bike and e-bike rentals! Guests can deepen their exploration and adventuring around historic downtown Port Huron and the Blue Water Area’s beautiful sandy beaches, river walk views (watch the freighters!) and Blue Water Bridge that stretches across the St. Clair River into Canada.
