Culinary student project...yay.
Hey guys! I have a restaurant concept that very much falls into the natural living philosophy. The concept I have is very much geared towards people like us, especially vegetarians and vegans looking for fine dining. That being said, I need as many people as possible to go and order from my menu (not for real money, obviously), so I can finish my Cost Control class project. This is an on-going, evolving menu as I progress through school. At the moment I need to determine the popularity of each entree to do book-keeping type stuff. Yeah, so that's all. If you could take a sec to help me out, that would be AWESOME! Thanks! =Kat= I might have x-posted a little... | | Thursday, January 18th, 2007 | 8:16 pm [rzezidizz]

Under the Duvet by Marian Keyes
I'm off to a very slow start on my 50 books. Winter makes me lazy. Book 1 of 50--HA! I read this collection of essays on the airplane and in various airports on my way to Argentina, and enjoyed it as a vacation read. I felt that the quality of essays did vary, but I can't think of any essay that I didn't enjoy at least a little bit. As a whole, the collection is an honest and slightly humorous description of the author's life, experiences, and insights. Individually, the essays I enjoyed the most were Nam Flashbacks, Psycho Magnet, Lucky O'Leary: A Prince Among Dogs, Push!, and What Color Is Your Aura.My rating: 6.5/10 crossposted to rzezidizz, book_worm, & 50bookchallenge Current Mood: calm | | Thursday, December 21st, 2006 | 10:09 am [kletta]

Claxton Dong: Save Our Star Save Our Star is a time-travel series, recommended from age 9, about equality between children and adults. I love it and have started a community for it. The official site, SaveOurStar.com, no longer seems to work, but archive.org has archived versions, such as this one, where you can read excerpts from the books, among other things. Or how about that weirdo who is selling a Playstation 3 while naked? That one is scary. Even worse is that guy who is selling 3 pounds of stinky cheese (decorative packaging free if the bid gets over $250!)? Yeah, we'll talk about all that here and more. You know you want to join. Opera Mini 2
I see that Opera Mini 2.0 is out now and it's looking very slick. Page Transition Animations, keyboard shortcuts (*1 to go to your first bookmark etc), custom searches on the home page and full screen mode (**). Opera's definitely looking very slick and totally blows away the idea that Java's slow. Could someone please re-parent me?
My parents treated me mostly, but not completely as an equal, and have formed my personality somewhat. Could someone please give me the kind of help a non-ageist adult would give their child, and help me become who I want to become? Of course, because I want to be equal, I am also ready to help these people or others, in this way or in others. Many thanks in advance! I used to be lulufallsdown but recently got a new lj. I didn't often post (most recent one was here) but I commented a bit. I figured I'd give a re-introduction :) About me and my boyfriend: We are an age-gap, distance, international relationship, and we met on the internet. :D I'm crossposting this so I'll just fill out the distant_hearts intro post and add a little more info. Your name/LJ name: Leslie // lulilyblooms Age: 22 (... almost 23) Location: British Columbia, Canada S.O.'s name/LJ name: Dave Age: 36 Location: Portland, Oregon, USA Distance apart: 823 km according to GoogleMaps Age Difference: 13.5 years Tell us how you met:I joined the website http://homokaasu.org in October of '02, for The Kill Everyone Project (Oh that sounds great, doesn't it). Dave had been a member there since February and was one of the higher-ranked participants. He was a regular in the chat and quite friendly. At this time, I was engaged to a guy from Missouri. Dave and I didn't chat much although we did have a couple of close friends in common - TKEP is a bit clique-y :) While I was living in Missouri with the now-ex on a trial run for 6 months, Sept'03 to Feb'04, I mentioned in chat that I hadn't watched much anime. Dave being an anime geek and a completely generous person, offered to burn me a couple of cds with the best of his collection. He mailed them out to me and that was the start of our one-on-one conversations. I broke up with Missouri-dude in April '04 because things just weren't working. I had a couple of flirtations with other people but mostly just wanted to relax from the relationship scene, since I just got out of this 3 year relationship. When I had the chance, I chatted with Dave, but it was hard to get ahold of him because his job was starting to suck his soul out. In August Dave decided to quit his job and just be unemployed for a bit, live off his savings. First he went out to Australia to visit people there, and then he planned to roadtrip around to meet other people he knew from the site. This led to: First time meeting face to face:October '04. I was the first person he went to see on his roadtrip, because I was the only one in BC and everybody else was south or east of him. I gave him directions, told him when I had a couple of days off, and he showed up with different beers to have me taste (ew, beer) and his laptop filled with anime and movies to watch (yay movies!). I knew he was a cuddly kinda guy and I expected some hugs and backrubs. On what was supposed to be his last night there, he took the backrub in a slightly different direction >.> after I unexpectedly got laid, we talked all night until the sun came up, and he decided to extend his visit an additional day (to not be a jerk, he says :D). Over the next little while we found ourselves in a relationship :o and in love :o both things we weren't expecting. Happy bonuses! It's been almost 18 months now. How often do you see each other:Approximately once a month, more often if we're lucky. We've had quite a few extended visits of a week or more and only once have we gone two months without seeing each other. Future plans:I'm trying now to save up my moneyz so that I can take a 6 month leave of absence from work, and live with Dave for that time. Kind of a trial run. In the very-near future, I'm going to see him in a week and a half for my birthday/our year-and-a-half-iversary/a small get-together. Two of our friends from TKEP are coming out too. Where you see both of you in 5 years:If I'm still with him, we'll be married, no doubt. I'm not much for sitting around once a decision has actually been made. I think it's very likely that we'll end up married. He's still hesitant, but I think he's not giving himself enough credit. A bit of a long story that I can save for another time, hopefully with happy updates as we've got a serious talk planned for Wednesday/Thursday. I hope that we'll be living in Canada as I'm very close to my family, but we'll see about that part. Pictures to share?there aren't many of us together ;_; I'm going to try and get some in April. here's a picture of us on our one-year anniversary, October 7th '05Here and here are two pictures of us in August in Colorado, 9 of the TKEP people converged in Denver for a few days. Dave and I are in the back, on the far left. The other people there were fantastically awesome and these pictures were taken at Casa Bonita. crossposted to agegap and distant_hearts | | Friday, March 10th, 2006 | 12:42 pm [kletta]

Is both parents giving up a child for adoption anything like parents separating and moving out, considering the amount of cases where the child/ren lose contact with the non-resident parent (looking from the PoV of both the parents and the kids)? crossposted to adoptedintheuk, adoptiondebate and booju_mooju. Positively Bi?
*click* *click* A man is served coffee by an attractive woman. *click* He is smiled at by a fellow customer in shoe shop, also an attractive woman. *click* In a montage of short segments, we see this man progress through the day and each time he sees an attractive woman (with whom, it is implied, he'd like to have sex with) he clicks a counter. By the end of the day, he checks his counter: 102. However, the lift operator has also been doing this and has a count of over 2000. 80's items up for grabs!
Hey all! I'm a My Little Pony collector by defualt. Recently I came across a lot of Ponies and many accessories in a carrying case at a flea market. Not all the accessories are MLP, so I thought I'd offer them to the various 80's comms. No money needed, I just wanna get rid of the items. http://photobucket.com/albums/v16/Dragonessa/The first two rows and the first picture of the thrid row. Now the doll head is from a Xuxa head, which isn't 80's and I've had for ages. If you want it, it's also free of charge. My boyfriend is not for sale. Neither are the items he's holding (the first Pony he bought me and the Pride and Joy of his Star Wars collection). Only the pictures I specified. Some items I HAVE identified. I knopw some are Strawberry Shortcake items (a Blueberry Muffin shoe with hole for display stand, Ballerina Strawberry's tiara, and the SS comb), and one Moondreamer's costume. There's an elastic band with the Sweet Secret's logo on it, and the yellow heart with blue cup thingy I've identified as MLP and is not for sale now. Strawberry SHortcake items are taken! The importance of tradition ;) Penda the Pagan Royal sacrifice and a Mercian kingAlby StonePenda, a seventh-century king of Mercia, was a noted regicide. Indeed, his other achievements - his military campaigns and a crafty and unlikely alliance with the British king Cadwallon were instrumental in carving out Mercia as an independent kingdom and establishing it as a power to be reckoned with - were almost completely overshadowed by his reputation as a slayer of kings. As Penda was a pagan, and his alleged victims all Christian, it comes as no surprise to find that medieval chroniclers, mostly monks or Christian nobles, viewed his reign and deeds with horror and denigrated him at every opportunity. Read the rest, and find loads more like it. crossposted from my LJ to: livejournal_uk, mercians, midlanders & uk_pagans. Current Mood: interested | | Friday, December 23rd, 2005 | 9:41 am [7rin]

Love
It's strange stuff innit. Never know where it's going to pop up and appear next, and ~98% of the time, it's completely and utterly unexpected too. It's a driving force though, and can lead us to doing all sorts of weird-arse crazy whacky wonderful shit. Of course, it also leads to some of Life™'s greatest disaters too, but what the heck, it's all part of the fun anyway. When I love, I'm loving 'cause I can't not love. The object of my affections may or may not be aware of the fact that they are being loved, but their knowledge of its existence has no effect on its existence. Said knowledge can alter the intensity however, in that reciprocated feelings and emotions, and glances out the corner of the eye, and brushes past, and um... yeah, reciprocation is a Good Thing™. Why? Because loving is Good, and it's healthy, and yeah, it's fun stuff too. And I should drag myself off to bed and leave my God to do his own promotional work, since he too is all about the love. 'S a good job I love him then really, innit. :) crossposted from my LJ to lokeans Current Mood: cold | | Tuesday, December 20th, 2005 | 5:35 pm [darac]
